Here we shine the spotlight on the many artists who have contributed to the Basic Fantasy Project. This list is not exhaustive; if you are an artist who contributed, and do not see yourself represented, please let me know!
All artwork on this page is under copyright to the respective artist, and all rights are reserved. They have graciously permitted me to include their works in the various Basic Fantasy RPG game materials and on this site. Please do not use this art in your own works without first acquiring the permission of the artist!

Jason Braun
Jason's work is pretty well known in the old-school games community. Though the Core Rules required a number of character portraits, it's not a style I'm a big fan of... but just look at the attitude on that Gnome's face.

Luigi "artikid" Castellani
Luigi was an early and prolific contributor to the game. His work has always struck me as a perfect counterpoint to Steve Zieser's style.

Alexander Cook
Alexander provided the cover art for J.D. Neal's "The Chaotic Caves" module pretty much at the last minute, did it fast, and did a really nice job.

Dan Dalton
I've worked with Dan on and off for years, and was really happy when he volunteered to do some artwork for the Core Rules. His depiction of a cleric turning undead is one of my favorites, and the weapons rack is one of the real "anchor" pieces in the Core Rules.

Matt Finch
Matt is well-known for the Swords & Wizardry game system; less well known is that he's a darn decent artist. He just submitted one piece, but I love it. Look close and note that the thief is keeping score...

Cory Gelnett
Cory submitted several solid pieces which have appeared in the Morgansfort and Fortress, Tomb, and Tower multimodules.

Mike Hill
Mike only provided a couple of pieces, but his picture titled "The Team" is one of my favorites. One can only imagine what the adventurers are looking at...

Nathan Nada
Nathan contributed several works to the Morgansfort module, including the cover art piece "Old School Battle" and three different defenders of the fort.

Martin "Wulfgarn" Siesto
Martin is another long-term supporter of the project, and he submitted several "staple" monster portraits for the Core Rules.

Andy "ATOM" Taylor
Andy is another artist I've worked with on and off for years. He submitted several nice monster portraits for the Core Rules.

Brian "Glad" Thomas
Brian is yet another artist I've known for a long while, and he's another who helped flesh out the monster section of the Core Rules.

Erik Wilson
Erik was literally the first contributor to the Basic Fantasy Project, and his Scribbled Dragon became the official logo of the game. For the second edition, he contributed the color cover piece (not shown here, but you've seen it).

Steve Zieser
Steve was our second contributor, and his old-school art style really helped set the tone for the game. He also GM'ed the first Basic Fantasy RPG game I ever played in, at a little convention in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
