Map(s)

Post Wed Mar 27, 2013 5:41 pm

So I put together this map for an adventure I was planning on doing. But I just don't have the time and I didn't want to see it going to waste. So if someone wants to use it or convert it into BF style, you got my permission. Let me know if you do end up using it, I would like to hear how it was used.

KEY:
The doors with the two dots are metal and are locked (though you could change that)
The block with the two dots in the upper right corner is an altar.
The circle with the wavy lines are either wells or pools.
The area with the darker gray floors is natural cavern.
The star in a circle is a statue. Duh.

So turns out I had one more in me. This one is supposed to be the uppermost level of a dwarven fortress. Again if you want to use it for whatever, you have my permission. Just let me know what you use it for!

KEY:
The room in the lower right corner is supposed to be a natural cavern with a small lake in it.
The > symbols are arrow slits.
The brown terrain is supposed to be the path clinging to the outside of the mountain. The area beyond the path that is not black is supposed to be open air.
The room in the upper left corner was envisioned to be a gryphon roost. Flying mounts and all that.
The black dots are columns.
Can you spot the fireplace?

Maps that nice don't really need to be changed... the format is just fine.

Though we'll have to do something about the colored shading before we can print them. Hatching, maybe.

Thanks guys, I might make one or two more before I go. Dungeonographer seems to allow to put together maps that I have trouble drawing by hand.

I like the map that is on the cliff face. Nice ideas there.

The idea of maps make me think of something... has anyone ever seen a map of an actual dwarven town/village... something that is half underground and has portions above ground (albeit in the mountains). Something that can be used just like a human village might as a base of operations, something for everyone including some 'other races' dwelling with the population. I don't think I have seen such.

Also, I would love to see a "village of hommlett" sort of starter village for BFRPG (like Morgansfort, but larger and more townie stuff).
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

I've been doing some mapping (learning Photoshop). Here is a free map for anyone to use. Populate as you see fit :)

This map was made following the tutorial over at Cartographers Guild: (http://www.cartographersguild.com/)

Stopped gaming in 1989 after AD&D 2E came out. Coming back after 24 years, so my rule-base is still set at AD&D 1E.

I would def. like to contribute some maps for some of the modules, etc.

One thing I noticed is that there isn't a standardized set of symbols, besides using "S" for secret doors. Can we use any symbols and simply provide a key, or is there (or do we need to) actually a standard I just haven't found?

What sort of symbols are you thinking of?
