Charge rules

I am a little pussled over the "Set Weapon Against Charge" rules.

Say my character "Snorre" a fighter has an initiativ 5. And "monster 1" charging me has 3. Now Snorre does some attack to monster 2 which is adjacent to him in his round. Then it's monster 1 to act, he charges me. Can I now ue "Set Weapon Against Charge"? It says that you are holding your action, but I have already acted... Is this rule more like a trigger in DnD 4e? That I'm using my action to be prepared for such an attack, but if it ain't comming I've lost my round.

I'm not sure what Solomoriah is going to say, but isn't that exactly what would happen in a real life situation. If you had multiple opponents - one close and one further away that may charge - you have to choose which is more dangerous. If you attack the closer opponent then you give up the chance to set your weapon against the charge. If you set your weapon against a suspected charge then you are committed to defending against that attack whether it comes or not.

I look at it as if it was an NPC setting up against my charge and I had the lesser initiative number. If I am not the last combatant with an attack then I could choose to hold my action just like the NPC chose to hold his. If he then chooses to attack a nearby PC then I could charge him without worrying about a weapon being set against me. If the round is over and he hasn't changed from the set position and I haven't chose to attack, then we have both lost our actions that round.
