Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition
Upon further reflection, it makes me quite happy that there are others here who love the physical nature of books - standard sizes, paper weights, bindings - as much as I do.
And, although it may have sounded like a joke earlier, I'm actually kinda serious about that module. It's been percolating a while and I think I might write it up this summer. It'll be something for a party of beginning magic-users, I think.
Anyway, thanks for the spellbook suggestions, folks.

TSR had a series of one player games, one for each class, that was used to teach skills of each class. Blizzard pass for the thief I can't remember what the MU one was, or if there was one for MU. Something like that for the MU would be cool.

TSR's stuff sounds kinda cool; I never saw those. I don't want to threadjack, so I'm going to start a thread in the Workshop on this to collect thoughts and ideas, and also just to see if anyone would actually play a module for a MU-only party.

Maybe this is more of a rule addition but some guidelines for the use of some of the thieves skills by non thief character would be helpful, specially seeing that some GM thinks that non-thieves can't try to sneak a guard, climb an obstacle etc...

If someone wants to write it, we can see about getting it in.

That's the sort of person who shouldn't be GMing, IMO.Dimirag wrote:Maybe this is more of a rule addition but some guidelines for the use of some of the thieves skills by non thief character would be helpful, specially seeing that some GM thinks that non-thieves can't try to sneak a guard, climb an obstacle etc...
I could see what I can do.Solomoriah wrote:If someone wants to write it, we can see about getting it in.

Then a big number of people where to be casted put of GMing just because they tend to rule by the book... We must help create better GMs instead of send them away in my opinion

Dimirag, I'm sorry, I don't get exactly what you are saying.

I see him as saying that many GMs don't know how to GM. They just go by the book. We should teach them how to be better GMs instead of telling them they should just quit. I think it was in response to this "That's the sort of person who shouldn't be GMing, IMO."
I understand both sentiments, but since there is nothing we can do to prevent bad DMs from DMing, we might want to lean more toward helping them become better DMs. I am not sure that should be done in the rule set, but a BFRPG edition of "How to be a better GM" would work much better in my opinion.

Ah. I'm in favor of helping others get better. Heck, I know I can get better too.
