Too Many Ideas and Not Enough Time
Too Many Ideas and Not Enough Time
So, in addition to working on my House Rules Document, A Thief Supplement, a New Setting, tweaking stuff I already have out there such as "Additional Fighting Sub-Classes", "Fey-Mage", "Priest", and stuff that I really should be working more diligently on such as the Field Guide (monsters)....
... I get the urge to create a new Quasi-Class: Acrobat.
So, instead of trying to make this completely Thief-centric, I think I would like to come up a few abilities that any class might find desirable. Tumble/Evasion, Jumping (standing, running), Fall Damage Avoidance, more. Of course, applying these to a Thief (or Thug, Assassin, or even Jester) would get something akin to the classic 1e Thief-Acrobat (just done a little differently). But, these are all functions that would benefit anyone, whether Fighter, MU, Cleric, or various sub-classes.
So, thoughts? What would you want to see in such a Quasi-Class? I have not looked at the old material in quite some time, but what else would be a 'must have' ability or feature to keep in the class?

Sounds like a good way to get one of those adventurous and nimble swashbucklers - that is actually really good in combat (as a fighter)

Last night I started compiling all the MU spells into one document, organized by spell level. Has anything like this been done?

Not that's been presented. If you're including all of the variant ("Specialist") classes, you should note which one(s) each spell belongs to.
Re: Too Many Ideas and Not Enough Time
I like the arrangement alphabetical (regardless of level) because many spells appear as different level offerings for different classes (especially when one factors in sub-classes). Having them listed in each class by level means duplication of the spells when one is listing the spells for the next class....mibagents wrote:Last night I started compiling all the MU spells into one document, organized by spell level. ...however that is not necessarily bad, especially for the source documents (odt format). That makes it all so easy to produce mini-player guides for each spell-casting class where all the various components are in the document without other non-essential stuff.
That said, I think I would still prefer Alpha Listing, but with really good spell lists and/or good indexes. Of course as an electronic document, both could be there... just print the portions you need.
But, overall... a master spell document would be a nice offering, especially with good indexes or compiled spell lists! Bring it on!

Re: Too Many Ideas and Not Enough Time
My thought was to be able to give my players one document with the spells available to them in it, so they are not fishing through spells that they cannot cast, and arranging them by level means not fishing through spells of their own class that they still cannot cast due to level; it's probably a matter of different people's brains being wired differently, but I prefer it this way for myself.
So far I have only compiled the spells from the original rule book plus the extra spells supplement; my plan at this point is to include the Illusionist and pyromancer spells, but I don't use those classes. I'm keeping the necromancer supplement separate.

Re: Too Many Ideas and Not Enough Time
I have thought about making individual guides for spell casting classes (non spell using classes being too short to bother).... Never really followed thru. Good idea though.

Re: Too Many Ideas and Not Enough Time
I thought about doing this and calling it The Grimoire or something entirely basic and pedestrian like that, but I never found the time. I'm glad someone else has taken it up.mibagents wrote:Last night I started compiling all the MU spells into one document, organized by spell level. Has anything like this been done?
