More Hex Paper!

Post Sat Feb 04, 2012 5:05 pm

I just happen to be an avid wargamer as well as getting into RPG's. A few years ago I spent some time doing some trial and error learning of the FOSS vector editor Inkscape (therefore it was mostly error on my part), and created a US Letter size sheet of paper with 5/8" inch hexes for use with 1/2" square counters. The stroke width of my hex grid is about .3 pixels, and I haven't numbered the hexes. I've had a lot of exporting it as a .png file and loading it into the GNU Image Manipulation Program (my favorite FOSS RASTR editor) as well as putting into .jpg and loading it into both Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop (Elements).

So, would Basic Fantasy be interested in:
1. the .svg file for Inkscape (www.inkscape.org) that ANYONE is free to edit and number as they see fit.
2. a GIMP .xcf file with multiple layers, again allowing anyone to edit as they see fit (painting terrain both beneath and above the hex grid layer as appropriate).
3. I could try to put in an .odt file, but I haven't done that ever before hand, and I'd be glad to send a .jpg export in any dpi appropriate to the task for the Admin folks here to play with.

I did post some 3/4" hex sheets on US Legal Size Paper before on Deviant Art:

I'll be adding my 5/8" sheet there as well...

I'm interested in the gimp file. I use that for my map making.

I would also say Gimp or something that could be layered in over an existing map!

If you'll submit your work to me by email, I'll consider posting it on the main site. By "consider" understand that I mean "almost certainly do it."

I went there and downloaded your files for gimp and will be checking them out.

Alright, emailed the base files. I included all of them just so they all can be reviewed, edited, and/or converted to whatever format seems to fit the need for general distribution.

That, and I also updated my DA Gallery:
GIMP .xcf: http://sudsysutherland.deviantart.com/a ... -283276840

Inkscape .svg: http://sudsysutherland.deviantart.com/a ... -283276216

So, if anyone needs them... They can be found there, and hopefully here soon as well! Glad I can provide a bit more than just my 'two bits' once in a while!
