Rolling on multiple percentages
My character is dealing with 2 bullies. Normally, as I understand it, you’re trying to roll under the percentage number. I rolled a 97 which fails both 70% and 30%. So if the bullies aren’t NM or Fighter 1, then what are they. Conversely, if I had rolled 27 that succeeds on both accounts, which I assume negates the 70%.

I can't really understand what you are talking about, but, I'm guessing it has to do with rolling thieving skills... each skill requires its own independent roll and the values are based on the thief level, the opponents don't influence such values.

Re: Rolling on multiple percentages
Page 147 of the rule book states that a Bully has a 70% or 30% chance of being a normal man or a Lvl 1 Fighter, respectively. Assuming the roll needs to be under a said percentage means a roll of say 50% would clarify the Bully as a NM but not a Fighter. 20% would be within range to be Lvl 1 Fighter, presumably eliminating the NM option by default. However, anything over the 70% fails the roll on both accounts meaning the Bully is no Fighter or even a Normal Man, so what should I make of my roll of 97 on the d100? Thanks. Hope that made more sense.

Re: Rolling on multiple percentages
Its not a roll under situation, its a percentage spread, meaning that if you roll 70 or less the bully is a normal man, rolling 71 or higher (the remaining 30%) means its a 1st level fighter.

Ok that makes more sense for sure. So anything over 70% means maybe the Bully might be a humanoid or whatever?

Re: Rolling on multiple percentages
It means they are a 1st level fighter, 70 or less they are Normal Men, that is, a person with no class and level (regardless of race).
No matter the roll, bullies are young humanoids.

A bully would be a local resident, and thus most likely of the dominant race/species of the town or village. Unlikely to be exotic in the locale.
