Plans for the New Year?

Post Fri Jan 01, 2021 1:27 am

Happy New Year, everyone!

I was curious to hear if any of you had any plans for games, campaigns, or projects in 2021. I'm trying to talk some of my coworkers into starting a new campaign. In the meantime, I'm also doing a personal project where I am converting adventure modules that I like from other systems into booklets for personal use. I'm hoping that I'll have more opportunities to play than in the past year.

Here's to hoping that 2021 will be a better year for tabletop gaming, and a better year in general. Everyone stay safe and game on!

I'm hoping our local group runs a virtual gameday in the spring. I always run Star Trek or Star Wars, and running something other than fantasy really stretches my a bit as a DM.

If we can have a face to face day around Halloween, that will be great too. I think people will be dying to come out and game.

Writing, writing and more writing!

I still have to finish Shadows over Pineford - I've completed most of the locations, but have more to do on developing the adventures that are going to go into it. It will hopefully make a nice, simple, easy to use campaign setting when finished.

I'm also working on my equipment rules. It's expanded beyond the original spreadsheet and I'm working on doing a few different things with it. I'm going to add a proficiency system and background system as well - though very different from what you see in 5e, more like what you saw in 2nd Ed with the kits and such (though avoiding the more insane aspects of that). As a result, the name is changing a bit. The focus is to use roleplaying to develop characters. So inspired by the 0 level discussions we were having, and with all my thoughts on equipment, I'm putting together what I hope will be a really fun and cool tool for character development!

At some point I need to figure out what the beast master art will look like so I can move that to Showcase as well!

So yeah, writing writing writing!

Best of luck with the writing. Good work just takes so much time, but is worth it in the end.

Best of luck with your background system as well. Even just a hobby or early life skill can add a layer of depth to a character.

To be honest, I can't begin to make plans for face to face for the foreseeable future. Things are still uncertain.

I'm interested in getting into online games, either via roll20 or play by post, but that will depend on finding the right group and my work load lightening quite a bit from what it has been. Been on a long hiatus from rpgs as it is.

In the past I was so enamored with the hobby that I would have gladly played any time with anybody but now I put more value on my time. And the fact that if I have just a few free hours each day, those belong to my SO. Fingers crossed for more free time and better luck in 2021.
