Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
(OOC: Yeah, I posted in the OOC thread that Grumm's decision to hold it off has us standing firm in battle. Its good to know the thing is still standing in a flaming pool of oil. so hopefully 2d8 (minimum) each round. We just got to remember that this thing is fast, it got up off the ground and covered 40' in one round, so we won't be running away from it.)
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
Timorel, If you can secure the passage I will move and back up Grumm and Shybolt, my mace may do a bit more against it." Brother Arven quickly says, while watching the blazing battle. If he agrees Brother Arven will move back down the passage to support the other two.
OOC: Can I attempt to turn again, since technically we left for quite sometime? Granted my chances are slim but even if I can't make it turn I can at least make it use it's signal.

Player: I drink the potion!
DM: Are you sure you want to do that?
Player: Um, no. Maybe, Why, do you think it would be stupid?

(If it turns it can only go back into the room where we want to go anyway. So not much point in trying to turn it unless we are getting our asses kicked.)

Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
As Grumm and Shybolt began to move back, the monster pressed forward, trying to hit Grumm again... and then suddenly, it collapsed in a smoldering heap on the floor.
Visibility in the corridor was becoming very poor due to all the smoke, and even with damp rags around their faces, the adventurers began to have trouble breathing.

Shybolt takes a final hit on the corpse to try to decapitate the thing, then will retreat back toward the exit looking for good air.
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
As we move out to the main hall Brother Arven gasps and finally coughs out "Well that went well, where shall we seek fresh air, at the inn above or down towards the cave exit" He is keeping guard in case our venture has attracted undue attention.

Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
If we make it to good air without being killed Shybolt will take a look at Grumms wound to see if it looks different than a regular wound. If it doesn't look like a festering boil of lava, he will look at the others and grin, "That went well, but the smell of burning ghoul has made me hungry."
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
"When we get someplace safe I shall look at that wound, and perhaps I will be able to heal it, sometimes though these creatures of darkness carry magical diseases or curses that can rot a mans soul from the inside." Brother Arven, takes a glance at the wound in the torchlight, but is preoccupied with guarding the passageway that a better look will have to wait. Besides, as much as he would like to stay on task in the dungeon, Shybolt's remark about food now has him interested in returning to the inn for another pantry raid.

"Shybolt perks up at the mention of a panty raid!"

Grumm will also seek good air, but keep his wits about him. He'll make for the tunnel that lead outside and try to fill his lungs with fresh air and maybe climb down the slope - wasn't there a stream or river down there?
