Joe the Rat wrote:In reply to Thaddeus: "Looks like you're for solving things the same way I do. With a sharp object."

Thaddeus chuckles. "There aren't too many problems a properly placed piece of pointy object won't solve, in one way or another."

After the rest of the introductions:

"Well met, friends. Maybe --"
Husk wrote:"Look at us! Quibbling over something so trivial as money while a young girl's innocence and very life hangs in the balance! I am sure the Noble Lord Helsith, as well as the parents would agree that no price is too high for the child's safe return, or at the very least the eradication of the scourge that robbed her of this world!

Now if our affairs are in order, I say we be off to place our very lives in jeopardy where even the town's guard dare not tread. All for the sake of a poor shivering child, forgotten to all but her parents, the good Lord Helsith and a band of strangers who shall join together to deliver her from perdition!"

His enthusiasm builds considerably through the speech until he is all fire and brimstone. He paces the room and looks upon all its patrons at least once trying to work the crowd. once finished he kicks the door open and steps out into the street, calling out.

"Call for the Guard good Barkeep! We shall discuss payment upon our return!"

The last bit is shouted almost like a motto or battle cry as he looks up and down the street for any of the guard.
"-- we should go?" He shifts his pack to get ready for the road. "Barkeep, could you point out the family's house?"

OOC: Sorry for not posting sooner... spent the last few days trying to reinstall windows.

During "Pray time" here are the responses to the questions that Keiler asked Gabriel.
"They're not much more than farmers. Mostly keep to themselves. *sips* Don't see what goblins want with a little girl... unless... you see, she's had some kind of natural born magic in her... or so I've heard. most she's ever been able to do is make a mug float a few inches of the ground... although, the guy who told me that is a drunkard... uhh, guards, you say? It's against the law for them to be in caves like that, because those caves might be vaults that are owned by wizards...and they're big cowards. *sip* Not a single one will go into a cave. That's a side effect of no adventurers 'round here, I guess..." After the long hour, the rain seems to let up. As soon as Thaddeus has finished talking, Pero notices, that outside, three guards are approaching the tavern. They're on their horses, and they look like they're panicking. As they dismount, they rush into the bar, and start talking "Bruce! Bruce!" They appear to be referring to the bartender. "Oy, what is it?" "W-w-we saw them!" "Saw who?" "T-t-the goblins! A-a-and the girl!" "What? Where are they?!" "They're riding wolves, g-g-going off to somewhere else!" "Then why aren't you chasing them?" The guards then become silent. "You idiots! Did you see where they're going?" "K-k-kamir's keep, just a short walk from here." "I'm going to kill the lot of you, ya know that? Now, get the damn wagon ready!" As the guards leave, he then turns to the assembled party, and says "You'd all better be ready, 'cause we know where they are! There is a place nearby, known as Kamir's Keep. Ol' Kamir died years ago, and it seems like the only tenants are goblins. These 'Idiots' were too scared to chase, but they did see them. It's just a mile from here. We'll get a wagon ready, so you can get there quicker. Kill 'em all, get the girl, and you get the reward. Hurry, now. There's not much time." The guards then walk in, saying "We're ready. C'mon!" Everyone boards the wagon. It's quite a rickety ride, and it almost seems like the wagon might flip over, but after a few minutes, the wagon stops. As you all disembark, you can see the entrance to the keep. It's large, with runes carved into it. Two large statues of what look to be golems stand at the gate. It's overgrown with twine, and it looks like it's been ripped out, and shoved back into the doorway. The guards manage to pull it loose. As they look up at the towering structure, they start to tremble. "Well.. we'll be heading back to Morgansfort. Uh... good luck." They then promptly leave.

Let's work out the marching order, then we can go inside. :D
Pero 5/5
Galan 7/7, 1 healing potion left
Keiler 9/9, 1 healing potion left
Neville 4/4,
Davros 9/9
Thaddeus 10/10, 1 healing potion left

Per OOC discussion:
Neville will lead as scout, followed by Keiler, then Thaddeus, Pero, then Galan and Davros... er, in whichever order they like, or side by side.

"Alright lads, let's save the girl and earn our keep."

Pero's eyes go glassy at the mention of wizard's keeps, he also takes note of the untimely death of the owner of the keep the party is about to navigate.

Once off the wagon he immediately moves in to examine the runes as well as the statues for any bit he might recognize from his studies, or any particularly interesting bits to make rubbings of. He will take a brief respite to light the lantern and go back in for a better look, taking great care not to touch anything until he is sure it is safe to do so. Others would be able to hear mumbling to himself and utterances of Hmmmmm and Ah.

(ooc; anything he can make out? or can I make an INT check if its arcane in nature? Pero knows Dwarven and Dragon with a third language TBD.)

Davros nods glumly at Keilor's marching order suggestion. Now that he is here the thoughts of high adventure sit heavy in his gut. He looks over at Galen and takes some pleasure in that fact that he won't be doing this alone. If there is one thing Galen seems to be good at, its keeping his cool under pressure. He pats Galen on the shoulder and asks..

"Do you want to try side by side? Good thing for us we don't take up alot of room."

"That's a good idea. We can peek out each side and keep our eyes open for what others might miss."

Galan can't help but make one last appeal as he notices Davros' uneasiness, "Are you sure you're up for this? Alderonth willing we'll save the girl, rout the goblins, and return home in less time than it takes to drain a keg of ale but this isn't the Tournament of Knights."
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

(OOC: I suspect it's overgrown with vines, not twine. Of course, I could be wrong; if it is overgrown with thread, we'd better keep an eye on our boots.)

"All right you lot, settle down."
Is the entrance to the keep proper, or an opening courtyard?
If it is the building itself, how dark is it inside?
