I just removed the monster so that the room would be more of a snapshot of life in the castle before the curse hit it..

and thanks for the reply.. for some reason I thought that the clockwork guy would be in the tower itself

Hmm. But the puppy WAS part of life in the fortress... it was the wizard's guardian. Most of the time (when its master was not turned to stone) it was just a puppy, and everyone loved it. In his absence, it was instructed (and enchanted) to assume the dire wolf form to defend his stuff.

I don't recall who came up with it, but I do remember thinking it was pretty cool. The mage is based on one of my original player's PCs, and it's just his style.

Hey, it's alright, just trying to understand if I did something wrong in my presentation.

Chris.. this is question for the countdown room in the 'Crooked Rock Tower' module. I just want to make sure I got the vibe you were trying to get across with it.. To a character (or an NPC) the countdown would be scarier than crap.. almost like a 'Lost' moment where you had to type in those numbers every 108 minutes or something bad would happen. To somebody trapped in the room they would be thinking that thing hits zero and BAM.. the floor falls out or a fireball erupts.. Also if you were outside the room when the countdown triggered, would they have any options but to watch helplessly?

Yes, exactly. It's meant to play on their fears.

I don't suppose you could do anything, no.

Chris..

Two questions for you on Crooked Rock Tower - Room #35: The Metal Lizard.

1. Does the door open from the inside? It looks like it would close and re-latch if not spiked open but could it be opened from the inside if it did close?

2. The animatronic Lizardman Drummers.. Does their drumming control the Iron Golem? So if they were destroyed and the drumming stopped, would the Iron Golem shut down?

I ask because this room looks to be a place where characters go to die :D An AC25 Iron Golem that gets a +12 to hit and does 4d10 damage against level 4-5 PCs means they aren't long for this world if they can't get out or shut it down. Slurra has already met his untimely demise so he isn't there to shut down the golems in the temple level.

Wow, I missed this one for a long time. Sorry.

Assuming you still want an answer:

1) Wow, good question. I did not assume they were opened only from the outside when I ran it. You could play it either way, at your option.

2) The drummers "wake" the golem, but once started, damaging them won't stop it.

Chris.. Well I already ran it.. Her is what I did..

1. Well this one worked out because the MU had knock prepared, I let her use the spell to open the door.

2. Since this creature was just a smidge OP I let the drummers being destroyed shut it down, it was still a close thing though and the Cleric ended up dead..
