Season 1 - Episode 6: The Bandit Caves

Paladin shrugs his shoulders at Tannen and then skips quietly back to the party at the intersection. He'll then quietly sneak down to the passage on the right side. He'll hug the wall as he does so and stop about 5 feet from the intersection. He'll then get down on his hands and knees and crawl to the corridor edge. He'll listen there, and, if he hears nothing out of the ordinary, peek out around the corner at toe level.

Doughbert will look back to the group and try to signal that the southern entrenace also serves the stables. He will then crawl over the gate and slip along the eastern wall, crossbow pointed at the stalls, and move down toward the southern entrance checking each of the stalls as he passes.

Paladin creeps south, past the two stable entrances on his right and the closed door on his left, towards the intersection at the end of the tunnel. As he approaches the junction, he drops to his hands and knees and listens [rolls]. As all seems quiet, he peeks around the corner to the right (west). He sees a tunnel that continues west for about 30' before turning to the left (south).

Looking to his left (east), Paladin sees that the tunnel leads back towards the entrance (exactly as shown on Tannen's map).

Doughbert will look back to the group and try to signal that the southern entrenace also serves the stables. He will then crawl over the gate and slip along the eastern wall, crossbow pointed at the stalls, and move down toward the southern entrance checking each of the stalls as he passes.

Meanwhile Doughbert walks the length of the stable block, crossbow poised, checking each stall in turn. All are empty save for straw and half-empty buckets of water.

[Birthright]

From his position near the door at the north end of the tunnel, Tannen signals for the others to form up behind him. As the others approach, Tannen checks his shield and readies his sword before examining the door. [Does the door have a lock, does it appear well used, etc.]

Paladin scurries quietly back up the edge of the corridor until he is parallel to the closed door. He tests the floor to make sure no pit is hiding before the door, then cross over to the door and listen at it.

Karl follows up quietly and steps in directly behind Tannen, leaving room for Nivek to come up alongside Tannen.

Doughbert waits in the southern entrance to the stable covering Paladin as he checks the door in the eastern wall. He takes a quick look at the others gathering at the northern door to assure they haven't opened it yet, and then turns back to watch paladin wondering what he plans to do.

Nivek whispers, "Are we ready to move on boys?"

Then he mutters a brief prayer for guidance, "Forge Lord, grant us wisdom for our task."

Whilst the others gather outside the northernmost door, the halflings linger around the other unopened door midway down the passage. Listening carefully (rolls), Paladin is reassured to discover that his ears ARE still working. Beyond the door he can hear the scraping of a chair, followed by footseps. For a horrible moment Paladin fears that the occupant may be about to exit and that he'll be caught red-handed (not for the first time in his illustrious career). But the footsteps quickly cease and all is quiet again.

Paladin waves his arms like a panicked chicken until he sees Doughbert staring at him. He holds up his thumb and jerks it at the door. He then makes as if to knock on the door, but then opts not to.
