I rolled randomly and the crown is the first object to be removed from the chest. The dragon lunges at it as soon as it is offered and attempts to take it in its jaws.

Does anyone attempt to stop this? Otherwise, it has it. If not I'll roll for initiative because the dragon is effectively trying to 'grab an object' from Jaali.

Jaali feels a strange sense foreboding coming over him when he takes the crown from the chest and shows it to the sea dragon. The paladin Rostam, observing this, notices a flash of evil coming from the crown.

Maju won't try to stop the dragon - especially for something that feels evil.

YC just keeps watching the dragon and makes no move to interfere.

I'm really waiting on Jaali here. The crown is in his hands.

Rostam was prepared to let the dragon have a fair share of anyting valuable.
Anything evil is another matter entirely.

Not so fast!

The paladin tries to snatch the crown away from both Jaali and the dragon.

Jaali doesn't really care about the crown in particular, so he would definitely hand it to the dragon. So I guess it will be between the Paladin and the dragon now.

It seems like what has happened is that Jaali has seen the paladin and dragon both lunge for the crown, and now he lets go of it pretty easily.

The paladin beats the dragon for initiative and gets the crown from the halfling. He feels no particular evil from it at this time - - the evil was only noticeable when it first came out of the chest.

The dragon roars and lunges in an attempt to grab the crown. It misses hopelessly.

Now what?

Rostam dodges the dragon's snapping jaws.

Which party member is furthest from the dragon? Rostam will toss him the crown and otherwise try to not get bitten.
