Greyman, if you feel more comfortable by giving some monster's info to your players, then do it, its your table, your game, make it yours all the way, rules are tools for you to use and not to be restrained by.
I personally use "detect magic" as a minor special ability that MUs can do with a successful roll, and use another variant of "Analyze Magic" that gives more direct info.
As you grow as a GM you will learn to shape your gaming style and even to create solution or add innovations to your game.
