Chapter 4: Battle in the Ruins

Re: Chapter 4: Jab-Afri the Pirate Mage
OK, YC will dig himself out and then sneak around, trying to stay hidden and figure out what the pirates' plan is.
Re: Chapter 4: Jab-Afri the Pirate Mage
YC, your luck is good. No ones comes by until you are safely out of the hole and in a position to hide behind buildings.
I don't yet want to map the complex, although I might if needed. In the meantime, I'll say that you have moved in towards the larger cubes at the centre and have observed that there are 2 ordinary (not named) pirates hanging about near the well. They haven't seen you. One is peering down there, the other is standing guard. Both have rifles and cutlasses.
Further away is the largest cube which has the dungeon hatch. You know there are more pirates there but you can't see how many or what they are doing.
You could sneak up on the group at the dungeon door, but you'd need to make hide rolls successfully. You could also try sneaking up on the two at the well.
You can't hear Jab-Afri, who you remember as being pretty loud when he spoke. You also can't hear the camel.

Re: Chapter 4: Jab-Afri the Pirate Mage
Sonja
will have backed up a bit farther into the darkness during the successive grenades, like about 10'. When she sees Apinya, she'll wait to see what happens. She won't immediately open fire.
DM: Kanya gets to her final location at the end of the hall. You were as far as you could go, right at the end. You can't go 10' further back. I note that you are holding fire.

Jaali stays hidden and hopes for the best.

No really, it's Sonja the Imperial navy officer not Kanya the scourge of the eastern seas.Woe wrote:Sonja...

Re: Chapter 4: Jab-Afri the Pirate Mage
Oops.
Well, now this is gonna get confusing, because what happens is that SONJA comes into the room as well. She has evidently cast a LIGHT spell on her morningstar (darkness reversed) and it is beating back Saracen's Darkness spell cast on the rope.
Apinya moves forward down the hall about ten feet, and SONJA comes in behind him. She's standing right near the halfling.
Maju! Jaali! Yuan-Cheng! We know you're down here! You're outnumbered! Come out and give yourselves up! You won't be harmed!

Re: Chapter 4: Jab-Afri the Pirate Mage
It's just Kanya and Apinya then? Between the fear and the hold person, I don't think Sonja would win. The only way I see a win here is if YC's stunning fists knock her out early in the fight, and then we take down Apinya. That's a lot to take for granted, especially since YC isn't here and he'd probably have to blast through other pirates to get here.
Longman, Apinya is 110' away?

Re: Chapter 4: Jab-Afri the Pirate Mage
Yes, he's 110. You said you were in I14. (Not at the end of the corridor.)
By the way, that means Apinya will probably notice you pretty soon in the dim light down the hall. He hasn't so far...

Re: Chapter 4: Jab-Afri the Pirate Mage
I'm confused, not the least of which because you keep using Kanya.
I thought Sonja was either at H14 (where I wanted to place her; I realize I meant I14) or at the end of the hall (which you posted a bit ago). The end of the hall isn't I14, is it?
The reason I wanted Sonja to back up another 10' was to get her out of dim light and into darkness. Sorry if I'm being to literal here. I just don't want to end up pirate food.
Oh, and Apinya is a she isn't she?

Re: Chapter 4: Jab-Afri the Pirate Mage
So there's just two groups of pirates? One group of 2 by the well and another group by the hatch leading down to where Jaali and Sonya are hiding?
How far away are the two groups and what can YC hide behind after he pushes the two into the well?
