Re: Out-of-Character Chat
I'm currently working on 4 projects (which is a lot) the two big ones are a TV show that I'm writing, the second is an internet comedy series that I'm directing, both of which are time sucks but hugely important to me keeping my house, so I'm checking the board only twice a day.
And Karl is a little slow by nature.

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
Ah, crap, sorry guys. I have been shooting a series of projects and the days got away from me.
I'm mostly back. Still busy, but able to get online.
Apologies for the slow response.
Karl is ready to chop at some goblins.

Mapping
To be honest, when I used to play back in the "old days", we never used to actually role-play mapping. It was just a job that one of the players (rather than characters) did. I don't have a strong opinion either way; it's up to the group collectively to decide whether the chore of mapping outweighs the benefits (or not). You might get away without mapping most of the time, but you know that there's going to be some point in the future, probably when you're low on hit points and being pursued by a horde of ferocious monsters, that you're going to have to make a crucial left/right decision as you flee a dungeon ...Birthright wrote:[Tannen can map, although he doen't have the necessary materials. ...oh I never said that I wasn't going to be mapping this place out.
I said that Karl is not bright enough to do it.
I've got a pencil and graph paper map going already.
Having said that, goblin warrens aren't notoriously deep.
Orc or Hobgoblin caves on the other hand... we may need a map then.
oh crap, I didn't update my character sheet with Experience... doing that now.

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
Heh. I actually laughed to myself when Tannen fled from the goblin spell caster!
But it led me to think... Tannen has a +1 Wis modifier and only missed his save by one. (rolled a 16 and needed a 17 to save). Does the Wis modifier apply to saves vs. fear in BFRPG? I don't have the rules in front of me to check.
No biggie, just checking.
Good luck to the rest of the party while Tannen runs for his life!

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
Hmmm ... the rules are a bit vague, but I think on balance you're probably right. In the 'Saving Throws' section (p53) it says that saving throws are NOT affected by ability score bonuses with the exception of poison/constitution and illusions/intelligence.
However, in the description of the Wisdom attribute (p4) it states "The Wisdom bonus or penalty may apply to some saving throws vs. magical attacks, particularly those affecting the target's will", which is probably the case here.
On this occasion, let's leave things as they are; it's less messy than trying to rewind (my GM get-out is the 'may'
). But for the future, I'll let you have the Wisdom bonus on will-affecting spells.

No problem at all. Enjoying the game a lot so far, thanks.JoeCarr28 wrote:...

Hoping the rest of the party don't have too many casualties in the caves - Tannen should be safe though if he doesn't come across any goblins while he runs away for 2 turns! I wonder what Barnaby will make of the screaming human running for his life through the forest?

Re: Out-of-Character Chat
BTW, Joe: Can I make OOC suggestions to the rest of the group in this thread while Tannen is "out of scene"?

Yes, I think so. You probably would if we were all sat round a table doing this - I wouldn't banish you from the room!Birthright wrote:BTW, Joe: Can I make OOC suggestions to the rest of the group in this thread while Tannen is "out of scene"?
