Just Finished our first BFRPG campaign
Just finished our first BFRPG campaign and it was awesome. Took us about 9 months and we used a brand new Homebrew world created for the campaign.
The system worked really well. We didn't invest in BFRPG for nostalgia so much. Rather, we did it because we were playing Pathfinder and just got overwhelmed by the Rules/Power Bloat.
We had a lot more actual role playing.
A great time.
Thanks for the system!

Re: Just Finished our first BFRPG campaign
We played every Saturday.
We did not play any modules, just our own campaign world. It's one we sat down and drew a map of before playing. Everybody in the game helped create it. So, their character background helped flesh out the world.
In the end, we found that far more rewarding than a Pre-made Campaign Setting or Module.
Also, we used many custom monsters and races as well as many from the Basic Fantasy Field Guide. Some examples:
Half-goblins- goblins have been beefed up.(3HD) More stealthy, and "ninja-like". Not throw away enemies. Half-goblins are even tougher.(4-5HD)
Binzakar Dwarves-Nomadic Dwarves who eschew ferrous metals (due to their ancestors breaking an oathand their need, as a culture, to atone).
Sauromatians-lizardmen, akin to those in Warhammer Fantasy(5HD)
Orca Skinwalkers- Killer whales who are able to Charm humanoids into doing their bidding. (Port city serial killers that sew skins into a magic "suit" that the orcas can wear and walk on land. And hunt... (7-8HD)(An old idea I got from a sci-fi book, "Above the Lower Sky")
We made it to:
Dwarf Fighter-L6
Halfling Fighter-L6
Human Thief-L7
Human Magic-User-L5

And yes, I was the DM. Now the game has rotated and the player who played our Magic-User is DMing. We are continuing from there and I am bringing in an Illusionist, named (big surprise here, given my User Name), "Scheldrake". Anytime he casts a spell, he yells his name. Should be fun!
"Scheldrake!!!" <BAMF!> He's gone...

Cool, I envy your session length/ game frequency. We have been playing for like a year and only got to 3rd/4th level. We only get weekly sessions of just over an hour and I don't blame some people for getting bored.

Our weekly session is as follows:
8pm- Most players arrive on time. (4 men, 1 woman)
8-8:30pm-typical BS (Talk about shows and movie trailers, etc. Three of us work together, so some shop talk, etc.)
8:30-11:30pm- A good session of gaming. Some digressions, but we're pretty good.
We can get a lot done in a session.

So I think we want to know how did you plan for your sessions? Did you create your own set piece modules or did you just sand box the whole thing and wing it as you went along?

Also, could you post the info on your custom monster and races?
