(OOC: I put the info you requested in the chat thread.)Longman wrote:This is totally the conversation William wants to be be a part of. He'll come to dining room and sit listening while others compare notes on what the woman / girl looked like, and to whom.
(OOC Mint Can we have a brief recap on the various sightings please?)

Re: Chapter One: The Star and the Sylvan Sea
In the dining cabin you all seat yourselves around a large rectangular table close to a stained glass window at the stern of the ship. A pair of stewards bring you tea or wine along with plates heaped with tea sandwiches. After serving yourselves you begin to eat and drink as you discuss these mysterious encounters...
Re: Chapter One: The Star and the Sylvan Sea
It seems to me, fellow travelers, that our captain is not all he seems. Why did the young girl in the cabin call him Halyth? Is that an Elvish name? Or is that simply his first name? In any case, it is pretty clear he is league with some characters on board this boat who seem to be neither crew nor regular passengers. And, what do you think Shaha's real name might have been?'
After this discussion, William will summon one of the crew in the dining room:
Excuse me, sir - by way of thanks, we were planning to make a votary card for our friend Captain Galway and take it to the main shrine in Caerton. But we wish to keep it a secret from him until our disembarkation. Do you by chance know his first name?

Re: Chapter One: The Star and the Sylvan Sea
The steward you have beckoned over leans discreetly forward and in a low voice says, "His first name is Halyth sir. Tis no secret. Captain Galway is a right good man and it is proud I am to hear that you intend to honor him." Saying this he gives you a pleased nod, straightens, and goes back to his duties.
Re: Chapter One: The Star and the Sylvan Sea
Oh. Thankyou.
William looks slightly embarrassed, but gets to work on making a votary card and candle dedicated to Ou, and asking that the Captain may always have good fortune when floating above her.

Girl:
Elizabeth is confused. "Girl? What girl are you all talking about? I think you've all gone mad, being away from the shore. Are you sure this maid didn't have a fish tail?" Realizing they're serious (or at least trying hard to convince her they are), she doesn't have anything to add to the conversation -- especially since Edward stated the girl appeared out of nowhere, and disappeared just as quickly.

Halyth
She leans closely to William, not to embarrass him too much. "Halyth is a northern variant of the name we have.. Harold. I only know this because my nephew is named Harold, and when we used to get traders from Lochinvar, they'd call him Halyth. Took us days before we realized they were talking to the boy."

Dinner
Hearing the talk of this girl adds to her suspicions of Captain Galway. She decides to eat sparingly from the dinner table, instead choosing to later visit the galley and ask for hardtack later. Nothing overt, of course, and she won't share her suspicions with anyone yet save William (and he already knows so again, nothing to share).

After listening for a while Kynncelid says: "It seems to me that the girls you are talking about are diferent persons. I wonder how many passengers does the captain have... It seems you were right in your suspicion Lady Wolfe."

Seeing no one has anything to add Kynndelic continues: "I'm not a godsman, but what if Brother Edward saw one of the lesser entities that serve the Pum-Enw-Llythyr (the Five Letter Name)? On the other women on board I have no idea except one seems to be a travelling entertainer and the last may be the Captain's Mistress.."
Re: Chapter One: The Star and the Sylvan Sea
Edward ponders laboriously over what the Elf said then spoke, "I don't know. She was just a girl. The moment was a gift from above and I am happy to have had it. I don't understand why everyone is so worked up over her." he pauses then says, "I do so hope that the captain lets me run his errand for him. This voyage has done much to restore my faith."
Re: Chapter One: The Star and the Sylvan Sea
"An errand for him ? What bothers me is that it's Shaha that wants us to do the errand, she must be some powerful person to get so much influence on the captain. In any case, I suggest that we accept the captain's mission and try to find who she is while executing the job."
