RED OAK: ARCHIVE

The treehouse itself is made mostly of oak beams, the main ones are very old. It as been fixed countless times over the years Ivy has been trained up it, and curtains have been formed over the windows. It has three rooms, each a third of the whole, and each of which are about 10 square feet.

The east facing room has only one window and a trapdoor upward, as well as a door into the second room. There's a wooden block step for using the trapdoor. The second or middle room has two doors, and a trapdoor down, with windows facing South and West. There's a 40' rope ladder for the trapdoor to the ground. The final room - accesible only by the middle room - also has two ivy windows.

You could live here for some time in safety. There are all sorts of shelves, hammock, bunks and boxes that have been added on over the years. It's quite homely.

You find:

- About 80 gp in random coinage, some of it from the southern kingdom.
- A fair stash of weapons in the third room. Kilian's assessment is accurate - they are not good quality. 3 shortswords, a longsword, a longbow, 2 broken crossbows, 14 arrows, 27 quarrels, some bowyer equipment, some crossbow making equipment, 1 spear, 1 suit of old leather armor, a pair of chain gloves, 1 very bad leather helmet.

about 30 days worth of perishable food, some of quite good
15 days of iron rations
lots of eating and cooking gear
alcohol of various kinds
some books, games, entertainment gear

1 vial of a brown goo, with the stopper off.
2 vials of something you suspect is their healing potion
2 vials of a different potion you have not come across before, it has a darker color. Both kinds are from the same source.

1 locked cupboard with a fairly fancy lock. The cupboard itself is built into the tree trunk and is probably a niche about 1' deep.

It's pretty obvious the nisha have run off with a lot of extra gear.

Jane's reaction to Kilian is quite defensive and his gruff talk just serves to shut her up. At the moment she isn't saying anything other than..."what are you going to do with me? I;m really no one important in all this. Maybe you could take me back to Cyn Dol and leave me, outside the town?"

She seems to prefer eye contact with Tiana.

The archers were so focused on their own nisha they didn't see the injured one escape. It could be anywhere by now...but Fiod seems extremely certain it is up a particular beech tree about 20 feet from the treehouse tree. That's where he is at when you run into the scene. If you want to go to him, you can, otherwise I'll assume you are climbing up the tree using the rope ladder from the trapdoor.

Haha ok, touche. I did look in the BFRPG manual and didn't find it before asking. Obviously I should try harder next time.


"Jane, you stay here. It's not safe in the forest, especially alone. The nisha aren't the worst that is out there." With that, Tiana vaults out of the window and climbs down to the grouns. When Jane isn't able to see, Kilian rolls his eyes at Bruce and then climbs down the trap door.

The plan for the nisha: Talin recommends against going up on the same tree, since the Nisha has an advantageous tactical position. Is there a nearby tree (or even the fort roof?) that would give the archers a good vantage on the trapped nisha? If so, they'll do that. Talin and Freya will borrow Kilian's and Bruce's shields to try to protect the three of them during the ascent to a good archer's nest.

Bruce and Kilian can stay at the base, chopping away at the tree, away from the fort. Anna can keep a lookout with her bow. If she ever has a shot at the nisha, she should take it. The rest, upwards but slow and steady looking for the nisha.

Does that seem like a reasonable plan? There's no other trees that the nisha can jump onto, are there?

If you want to wait, I'll elaborate on the plan tomorrow. I just realized how little detail I gave you on the plan.

Yes, there are other trees that either of the nisha could jump on to. If that chances things we can go back to here.

Over the next 2 rounds...

Bruce, sans shield, is guarding the woman Jane, who does not attempt to escape, so far. She does keep eyeing the trapdoor so he can't go far.

The fort roof is indeed an excellent place to see the nearby tree trunks so Kilian climbs back up there there to take a look. He can see some rustling movement in the tree Fido has indicated! If only his crossbow were loaded! He loads it, but loses his view on the creature.

Tiana scuttles down the main tree and meets Talin and Freya and together they start ascending the main tree.

Right at the end of the 2 rounds, Anna calls out..."Hey! I think it's changing shape!" She shoots at what she thinks is an emerging humanoid shape in one of the trees about 100' from the ground.She misses.

Fido is now running round in circles and seems a bit confused, not sure what to do. He wanst to go with Talin but is also drawn to Anna's position. He isn't barking at the nisha any more.

PS - did you ever tell Bruce about the healing potions?

Not sure. Not explicitly, though I have no idea what would have come up outside of the posts. Probably, because Bruce has been around since Brant.

"Fido, guard Anna!" Talin orders.

Kilian is confused by Bruce's actions (he was supposed to be helping with the tree, but I'll play that they haven't made it to treecutting yet). "Bruce, come 'ere up top. No wait. Grab a bow and dem vials, then come 'here. Keep an eye out for a weasel or any other forest crawling back. If that human runs on us, she be a dead wench from the nisha or gumps or wyverns." (Kilian's accent fades when he's stressed ) Kilian glances at Jane, then decides he'll worry more about the nisha still out in the forest than her. "Anna, come up into the fort. Ye be safer in 'ere."

How long for Kilian to chop down the tree? I'm guessing five minutes, which is more than I want to wait for now.
Once Bruce comes back up, they'll close the trapdoor behind them. Ditto if Anna comes up into the fort.

I wonder how far Kilian's tale of wyverns has spread.

Locations are getting confused.

Bruce stayed with Jane so she didn't run away.

Kilian went out on to the roof. (I thought that was your instructions.) Bruce is now coming out to join him, with potions. Neither can see the nisha that ran out this side.

Tiana, Freya and Talin are coming up.

Anna and Fido were on lookout near the suspect tree, the one you thought the uninjured nisha was in. Did you read the bit where I said Anna saw one changing into human form? Well, she did say that. She's now calling it out again.

"Hey! This one in the tree has gone human!"

She shoots it and then runs for the main tree. Fido runs with her. She hits it and does 1 hit point. It looses a crossbow bolt at her, and hits her and does 3 hit points. There's a nasty laugh from about 100 foot up in that beech tree.

Neither archer can get a decent sight of what shot her.
