Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
Hi all: I've attached a sort of "wilderness survival" supplement. It's a "rough" first attempt. I've taken ideas from Mentzer, Rules Cyclopedia, Labyrinth Lord and other BF supplements in an attempt to make it comprehensive. I'm hoping it will help fill in some of the blanks for wilderness and other adventuring situations. As far as I know there is no other supplement like it for BF already. Use if you like. Thanks.

I like what I'm seeing so far!

Made a few minor adjustments and added rules for types of weapons from a mount and extended the rule on breath holding (attached.)
Re: Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
Even at such an early stage/draft it reads very well. I hunger for tables, but that's me
Re: Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
Thanks.
Tables are a good idea. I'm thinking:
- a table for the weather movement rates
- a table for the effects of wind and gale on missile range
- a table for holding breath and revival
- any others? (I'll work on these and upload revision soon)
I'm not exactly an English major, so I suspect the writing style/tense may be inconsistent throughout, so I'm open to corrections.
Also open to ideas on any of the following:
The swimming section is not very tight because LL, RC, and B/X all do it differently.
The climbing with armor penalty is not very clearly defined/tested. But then again it was not very clear in B/X or RC either.
The chance of finding food versus hunting is the same, that's because I took the middle ground between LL, RC, and B/X as they all do it a little differently.
The weather section is taken mostly straight from B10; not sure if there's legality issues with the wording.

Re: Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
Here's the latest "table enhanced" revision (r3).
- Added tables
- Put breath holding in it's own section and made it optional
- Realized BF already covers Forced March, so I removed that.

Re: Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
Woot tables
In the Food in the Wild section, you have it as "your GM will make he necessary" when it should be "your GM will make the necessary"
For the wind table, you need a table header like all the other tables have.

Re: Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
Thanks. Hopefully this works (attached). I also clarified the rules on rates and wandering monster check while hunting.
Re: Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
Added rules for wilderness encounter distance, also camping and keeping watch. I'll let it sit a bit for more feedback before submitting.

Re: Adventuring Supplement (Wilderness, etc)
maybe you are already doing this, but you should edit the file in the first post everytime you do an update.
