I think I may finally have my houserules in a good place...

At least, the ones that apply to the player's side of the table. I have one or two other little ideas, but for the most part they're only things that really matter behind the screen. The only ones I might add are a fate point sort of mechanic, and maybe simplified encumbrance. Though the one in BFRPG isn't too hard to track, I don't think.

(And yeah, I'm kind of a lenient GM, if you couldn't tell from the save values I went with.)

They're here if you want to take a look: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y9r ... sp=sharing

Like any other house rules there's a lot here I like, a few things I will certainly swipe for my own house rules, and a few things I wouldn't use. ;)

Egads, what IS with that Sticks to Snakes spell?

I find it an exceedingly poor fit aesthetically.

Takes me back to my early days with BF when I tried to rewrite the rules to match 3rd edition. Its too bad they were lost in the intervening years. Though you can still see some glimpses of the stuff we came up with here (http://play-by-post.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=45). Also seeing "House Rules" and google docs together is really a blast of nostalgia.

I always enjoy reading others house rules and yours are no exception. Good riddance to sticks to snakes also!

I just noticed you have a nice Fort/Ref/Will table. I know there was another thread talking about posting something like that as a supplement.

I like ritual casting idea and the skills idea although once you start assigning skills you start heading down that rabbit hole.. I think skills need to be nebulous.. but based on an ability. Maybe what would be better would be to assign bonus's to skill checks based on their prime attribute.. A fighter gets a bonus to any str based skill check, a cleric, wisdom, rogue dex etc.. This way you aren't stuck defining skills..

A case in point is 3.5 assigning intimidation as a Charisma based skill. LAME!! Let the character tell you what he is going to do then you decide what attribute works best.. He puffs out his chest and slams his warhammer into the ground loudly.. sounds like str based intimidation to me!

Like I said these are just my ideas because I feel like the 3.5/Pathfinder ties you into these certain types of skills and trying to shoehorn what is going on into a certain skill whereas just saying what attribute it is allows more free form gaming..

It's a fine spell as is. Tastes simply vary.

I like the ritual provisions. I think it's ACKS that extends the range of effect and duration of spells cast ritually, which is cool.

Like the house rules! Could easily use a few of those in the Undermountain campaign and simplify things. (I'll ask for permission first).

I've always liked "Sticks to Snakes" when cast into a large group of archers........ depending on how you use the spell of course.
