Is the new 4th Edition of the game basically backwards compatible with the 3rd Edtion?

As the topic above states. In what ways is the new version of the rules now that for now the OGL thing is settled is 4th backwards compatible with the 3rd Edition? And if not how so?

Plus, BFRPG is broadly compatible with any OSR games. If you use descending AC, just do 20-BFRPG's AC.

And if you are using modules from certain later editions, just do 5XHit Dice for hit points. There's some HP bloat in later games.

Go BFRPG for all your OSR needs! You can't beat free and dirt cheap for print.

Plus at least one of the artists is stunning handsome.

Gabe is extremely modest, but I'm sure he'll appreciate the shout-out.

so 4e is backward compatible with 3e, but there are now doubts about it's compatibility with reality?

No reason it shouldn't be-- the changes were largely about breaking free of the OGL.
