MapMatic +2 Beta Test

Post by Solomoriah »

EDIT: The link to the program has changed:

http://basicfantasy.org/mapmatic2.html

------------------

Anyone wanting to participate in the beta test of MapMatic +2, start here:

http://basicfantasy.org/mapmatic2form.cgi?signup

You can log in here, once you have an account created and activated:

http://basicfantasy.org/mapmatic2form.cgi?login

I'm still working out the details, and sharing maps with each other is not yet implemented (though it is planned). Please post your experiences, problems, and feature requests in this thread. Thanks!

Could you give us a link to paste in already written code on the beta test page?

Yes to the first, that's in the plans.

Sorry about the trash can, I'll get it working also.

Let me restate this... perhaps we can call it an ALPHA test. :D

yep, trashcan works. I see the paperclip for uploading whenever you get that worked out.

Problem now is that I keep getting the session has expired screen when I go to save. Then when I click "click here" to log in again it takes me to the Host Gator error page. Which means I can't save my work and now I am gonna cry (not really it was just scribbles :) )

Also, I can't see how to save the file then view the text document I just created.

No way just yet to get the text version of the map. I do plan to include a downloader at some point.

As far as "session expired" goes, I'm still working on that. The map-cell-retriever should be updating the session cookie, but that's apparently not working just right yet.

It'll get there. I exposed it to the public to force myself to finish it.

No worries. I knew it was a work in progress when I started. I am just making scribbles on it anyway

Okay, I've updated the program. You can now upload and download maps. Nothing else significant has changed as yet.

I'm considering adding a "clipboard" to the pulldown palette selector, where possibly five or so cells could be copied and pasted using the mouse. This would let you replicate multiple elements at one time without using the keyboard.

Still thinking about it.

I don't want to get into the headaches of drag-and-drop...

How hard would it be to save certain strings and paste them in with key controls. Something like cntl-a, cntl-b, cntl-c and cntl-d pastes my fabulous code for creating a spiral staircase with a pillar in the middle.
