Idea for miniature buildings

Post by Mr Dark »

At a gift shop I came across some Roy Toy building sets and was thinking that these, and Lincoln Logs, would work to build quick miniature buildings. Add in some fantasy themes minis that are close to scale and I think this could be a cheap way to have buildings or even dungeon walls.

Thoughts?

Looks good to me, but I think it'd be a cheaper option to get some MDF wood buildings.
But then, if what you're worried about is looks, then you're good to go; add some nice little details like a shelf with potions there and a couple wizard's coats hung on a wall and you've got the material for an awesome place to play!

The MDF looks nice, I will consider it! Hopefully now that haunt season is over and we're back to 40 hours I can pick up some Lincoln Logs of some sort and put together a proof of concept.

Another option is to print out a picture and glue it to foamboard or cardboard. It will be more like a backdrop, but can still be effective at the table. Mount it on a base, cut openings for gates, cave entrances, etc.... Your players will still appreciate it even though it cost you almost nothing. Even improvising with little boxes, Jenga blocks, or kids building blocks is great.

Man I wish I were running a game tonight.

Also, you can get a LOT of stuff for cheap at yard sales/church sales. I got an aquarium piece that is sorta of a gargoyle gate. Used it as a set piece for the final battle.

Think i paid a 50 cents or a buck for it.

I like those ideas but I don't have a lot of space. So something that can be tore down and rebuilt is my best option.
