I think a case could be made for dragons as well. As iconic as those monsters are, it would be good to put them together.

I agree in general, but for one thing... moving the Death Dragon would mean the Derej Pit Creatures no longer stay together on one page. Pragmatism beats purity. One or two pieces of art would have to be added to make up for that change, which then might break the Shield Guardian page later in the book (but then, we could add more art to make up for THAT...)

The problem is that art has to appear before I can use it.

I'm not too sure if this is even an error, but on page 56 (58 digitally):

"Once a spider locates prey..." I think should be either "Once the spider locates prey..." or "Once a/the phase spider locates prey..." instead. I don't know, just a nitpick that I found while casually browsing the PDF.

Yeah, that part could be better. IF I do another version (and I probably will), I'll rewrite that part.

Announcing!

The Basic Fantasy Field Guide Volume 1, Release 35 -- September 16, 2019
This new release is the result of another layout pass, a few more text edits and corrections, and new art from Francisco Chavez. It might be a print release candidate, who knows?

Just noticed I missed NewbieSalmon's suggestion in R35, so I'm already working on R36.

A lot of good catches here, which I've fixed; however, they led me to other things that I rewrote. Hopefully those rewrites don't mess anything up.

Images overlaying text is a flow error of sorts. I'll try to be more careful.

Ack. Do you know what this does to my carefully-maintained flow?

Well, I did it. It hurt, but I did it. :D Now I really need one more 1 column picture to fall a page or two or three before the Rabbit Prince. Gah.

I fixed the sphinx a different way. Made no sense that its vision was addressed in both paragraphs in different ways.

I changed quite a bit more here than just that... gah. Rewriting the awkward bits is the whole point of my editing pass, but sometimes it seems endless.

No, the original is correct. A zombraire, like a zombie, must be hacked to pieces; its body is thus less vulnerable to blunt weapons. Skeletaires, like skeletons, are the opposite... you must break their bones to destroy them, so blunt weapons are more effective than edged
