Re: 3rd Chapter: Up the Stairs
Faylen tests to see if the door is unlocked then moves aside to let Rowan at the door.
As soon as the other polearms are behind him he enters the room (kicking in the door if it is locked)

OOC: I deleted the previous post to maintain continuity. Action stays the same - Neirin and Tertullian guard the other door.
Seeing that the party prefers to rush the kobolds, Neirin abandons the plan to spike the door. He motions to Tertullian:
Hey oldtimer, come over here. We should watch this door in case they try to take us in the back.
The cleric complies, readying his mace. He eyes the door like it is going to come off his hinges and attack at any moment.

Re: 3rd Chapter: Up the Stairs
F9 is not at the top of the stairs, but just on a landing. Just FYI.Longman wrote:Hengist waits at the top of the stair (F9) with spear out and lantern in hand. The magic user should now be free to cast.
On the lower level. Got it.Longman wrote:Ranald is still holding at K1.
Faylen carefully took hold of the door handle and tried it, and found it apparently unlocked.Clever_Munkey wrote:Faylen tests to see if the door is unlocked then moves aside to let Rowan at the door.
Noted.mTeasdale wrote:Bothan gets behind Rowan, pike in hand.
Where is Alphonse? I can't find a reference to his location.mTeasdale wrote:Alphonse gets ready to cast his spell, after giving his lantern away.
Where, specifically, are Neirin and Tertullian standing?Rhialto wrote:Seeing that the party prefers to rush the kobolds, Neirin abandons the plan to spike the door. He motions to Tertullian:

Holding on this action until Rhialto and mTeasdale confirm the locations of their characters.Clever_Munkey wrote:As soon as the other polearms are behind him he enters the room (kicking in the door if it is locked)

Neirin and Tertullian are next to the other door at B10, guarding the rear.
Re: 3rd Chapter: Up the Stairs
Alphonse is standing near Hengist, so at F9.

Re: 3rd Chapter: Up the Stairs
With all actions applied, here's the current map:
With all in readiness, Rowan threw open the door, which squealed loudly in protest. Beyond the door he saw a ten foot wide, ten foot deep alcove with yet another door on the other side; even as he saw this, the door flew open, revealing a number of small humanoids with large noses standing in ranks in the gloomy room beyond.
Initiative: Adventurers have 3, monsters have 1. Add your Reaction/Attacking Bonus (from Dex) to determine your actual number, and declare your actions.
Faylen, having checked the door, stepped aside to permit Rowan to open it. Bothan waited behind him, ready for action; Hengist and Alphonse held their position on the landing, guarding their way back, while Neirin and Tertullian moved quickly to the other door in case attackers came from that way. Ranald was still on the level below, protecting the party's retreat. With all in readiness, Rowan threw open the door, which squealed loudly in protest. Re: 3rd Chapter: Up the Stairs
Ranald gets a +1 bonus. As soon as he is aware of what is going on he will move to M1 on the lower map, which I think is the bottom of the stairs.
Hengist gets no bonus. He will move 10 up the stairs (into E1), hoping the magic-user stays with him, or behind him. He will guard E1 with his spear. He is carrying the lantern with his left hand, IIRC.

Re: 3rd Chapter: Up the Stairs
Alphonse will also get up the stairs to D9 and cast Sleep on the monsters.
Bothan will stay at the door and will attack if he's attacked.
Both characters don't have any initiative modifiers.

Re: 3rd Chapter: Up the Stairs
Neirin (+1 to initiative) and Tertullian (+0) watch the door at B10, ready to strike down any enemies that might appear.
