Harpy's singing
Would ear plugs (made from bee's wax) totally block out the effect of a harpy's song?
Re: Harpy's singing
I'd reduce the radius from 300' to 100' and give a +4 on the save.

Re: Harpy's singing
I've never in my life found a pair of ear plugs that would block out sound enough to prevent me from hearing a loud conversation... and I don't hear so good, y'know?

I would say yes simply because of The Odyssey.

Realistically, no it would not (in my opinion) but this is a game and not reality so my actual opinion on this goes "It is your game, you decide". If you want that to work then let it work. Maybe the wax blocks out the high or low frequency of the harpy song that hypnotizes or confuses people while not blocking out all the sounds.
Most headphones designed to block out sounds don't block out sounds but just muffle the loudness or mutes specific frequencies that can damage a person's hearing but as this is a fantasy game, you can just state it works or not.

I would definitely give a bonus to the save, but no immunity ! Seems logical like this, and it rewards the players for having good ideas.Longman wrote:I'd reduce the radius from 300' to 100' give a +4 on the save.

Yeah I was definitely going to at least give a reward but just discussing with player who had the idea who thought it should be immune. Luckily it was outside of game so that when I run it, it'll now go smoothly. I mean if everyone gets killed then it's their fault going 20 miles in the wilderness to the hapries' lair. I mean the captured harpy did say there was a few 100 copper and I think silver coins as well as a VERY shiny mace XD.

I'd do this as well. Always reward ingenuity!mTeasdale wrote:I would definitely give a bonus to the save, but no immunity ! Seems logical like this, and it rewards the players for having good ideas.Longman wrote:I'd reduce the radius from 300' to 100' give a +4 on the save.
