Announcing!
Iron Falcon Rules Release 38 -- March 18, 2015
The random encounters have been moved to the end of the Monsters section, which honestly seems a better fit to me. This made formatting the Adventuring section easier; that section now contains a page of general (and very traditional) rules for dungeoneering as well as the promised overland movement info. I've varied from the original base with respect to movement mainly to make the math much easier. Airborne and waterborne movement will be added in a later release.

Re: New Project: Iron Falcon
To Do List
I'm shaking down the list from my Phase 3 Notes post into a "to do" list, and here it is:
Definitely Will Be Done
Magic Item Saving Throws
Value of Gems and Jewelry -- DONE
Overland Movement -- Partially Done
Waterborne Movement
Airborne Movement
Wilderness Wandering Monsters -- DONE
Specialists
Men-at-Arms
May Be Done
Strongholds and Baronies
Dungeon Mapping Guidelines
Wilderness Evasion
I'll be updating this list as I go along.

That works better for me, too. Good change.Solomoriah wrote:The random encounters have been moved to the end of the Monsters section, which honestly seems a better fit to me.

Announcing!
Iron Falcon Rules Release 39 -- March 19, 2015
Overland, waterborne, and airborne movement subsections are completed, as are the Hirelings and Men-At-Arms rules. This makes all but two of the "Definitely Will Be Done" to-do's complete... hopefully in R40, due out tomorrow.

Re: New Project: Iron Falcon
It's been a while now since I read it, but is the dungeon mapping guidelines section something you could crib from your RPG Primer from last fall? I seem to recall that sort of thing being in there, but not to what extent.
I have to say, I've followed the progress on IF more as a way of seeing how you develop such a thing than with any intention of using it, but as the revisions pile up I've found I really like what you've done. The couple of early versions I looked at didn't really resonate with me, especially given I already have print copies of both S&W (WB, Core and Complete) and Delving Deeper. But the recent updates have come a long way and changed my opinion - I expect I'll end up grabbing a copy.
Nice work indeed!
Edited because punctuation matters!

Re: New Project: Iron Falcon
Thanks for the kind words! I expect, with the R40 release tomorrow, to be able to call the rules fundamentally done, and I'm thinking I'll take a breather. There will still be items on the "May Be Done" list but they are things I've already decided I can live without.
The dungeon mapping part in the RPG Primer could serve as a donor of material, I suppose. I don't really want to cannibalize one book too much to serve another, though I suppose in this case it might be the way to go.

Announcing!
Iron Falcon Rules Release 40 -- March 20, 2015
Magic item saving throws, vehicles, and charging (in combat) have all been added to this release, which is now fundamentally complete. There may be more material added in the future, but at this point Phase 4 begins: editing and final layout.

Announcing!
Iron Falcon Rules Release 41 -- March 23, 2015
This release has formatting updates; the character class tables did not have the half-point thick lines or 2/100" padding that pretty much all the other tables have, and thus did not print well at all. There are also numerous small textual changes to the encounter rules inspired by a discussion with Simon J. Bull, whose advice is much appreciated.

Re: New Project: Iron Falcon
Announcing!
Iron Falcon Rules Release 42 -- March 24, 2015
This release includes a number of small changes, and one big one: the rules for Characters with Multiple Classes have been rewritten to be more classic, without the excessive hit point issues previously noticed.
