Ack. "Masterwork" is one of my pet peeves.
At this late date, I'm not going to make any more textual changes. It's little more than a minor sticking point... and if I set out to make the game perfect, it will never be in print.
In fact, your comment is the first I've heard of this as an issue. Nobody has ever asked me that question.

Incidentally, R95 is uploading now. Fixed the double dagger on the Vampire.

I like that BF does not even mention Masterwork weapons (and armor and other objects) otherwise it could lead to true confusion.

I had the time to try to check numbers and found quibbles (haven't had the time to do more in depth research)...
Based on Basic-Fantasy-RPG-Rules-r93-lite
Assassin Vine HD 6 (no asterisk)555 XP 500 + 55
Djinni* HD 7+1* 800 XP 735 xp (670 + 65)
Elephant HD 9 (+8)* 1,075 xp 1,150 (1,075 + 75)
Ghost HD 10 (+9) 5,500 xp 1,300 (1,300 + (90 * 0)) = no asterisk)
Hyena HD 2+1 320 xp <- wrong! 75
Also: Movement rate 60" s/b 60' per wolf
Hyenodon Movement rate 40" = 40'
Rat, Giant - needs asterisk after HD or else xp = 10
Rot Grub - needs 2 asterisks after 1 hp or else xp = 10
Sprite - needs asterisk after 1d4 Hit Points or else xp = 10
Whale, Sperm HD 36* (+16) 18,000 XP 17,850 = 17250 + 600

Crap. Should have looked the statblocks over closer for the monsters I imported from the Field Guide. The Sperm Whale and Rat are my fault, though.

I figured. Certainly there would be no need to mention masterwork. The point is simply to say that 'dagger +1' means magic weapon, and not something else. Regards.

Another FG monster, and dang, where did that number come from??? No star on the HD, but there should be one... yet it has an asterisk after its AC instead of the proper double dagger. Considering that no monster can have more than two asterisks I made this table with the XP total for each HD from 1 to 19 with no * up to two **, it might help to do the maths a little easier. I also put the XP increase per extra HD
