Re: Chapter 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
Tannen relights his torch (difficult in the dark!) and finishes stacking the table and chairs adjacent to the corridor from which Nivek just returned. His intention is that we should be able to up-end the table quickly thus obstructing the passageway in the hope of buying a round or two to help get away.
"We should steer clear of the beast-den - we don't know what kind of beasts these goblins keep, but whatever they are they are not likely to remain quiet at our approach. I'm not happy to leave them at our backs either, but nobody said this would be easy."
Tannen lifts up his backpack and shield onto his back. In his hands he carries a torch and his sword.
"Shall we press on? I don't like this place and would sooner find Alma and get out of here."
Perhaps one of the halflings can scout ahead again - the enemy would hear Tannen and see his torch a mile away!

Paladin perks right up and sneaks off into the gloom! He'll skulk along until he can't see anymore and then return to the others.Birthright wrote: Perhaps one of the halflings can scout ahead again - the enemy would hear Tannen and see his torch a mile away!

Re: Chapter 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
Tannen will 'shadow' Paladin up to the T-junction, allowing a portion of the torch-light to spill around the corner so that the halfling can see at least a little bit as he heads stealthily down the tunnel leading to the south. Tannen stays hidden standing against the south wall of the main (east-west) tunnel and keeps an eye on the rawhide curtain to the north.Iain_IF wrote:Paladin perks right up and sneaks off into the gloom! By the Light of Tannen's Torch
((Nice map Tannen!))
By the light of Tannen's torch, Paladin creeps steathily down the south-running tunnel. The halfling makes it about 50' before the darkness becomes impenetrable. His short journey is, however, uneventful. There are no signs of any further goblins, or of any further passages or doors leading off from the tunnel; it just continues more or less due south.

Paladin will come back up, whisper his information to Tannen, and then sneak up to the rawhide curtain. He'll listen there.
Re: Chapter 1 - The Farmer's Lost a Wife
Hiker stands just behind Tannen with bow ready in case a missle is needed...
Noises
[Rolls]
Paladin sneaks up to the curtain and listens. He can discern some general sounds of movement and snuffling from within, as well as an intermittent metallic grating/clanking. Whatever is inside seems somewhat agitated, as if it is aware that someone has just approached.
Nivek: HP 4/7. No ‘0’ level spells remaining today
Tannen: HP 5/9

Paladin scoots back to the others. Sounds like a chained up wolf on the other side of the curtain he whispers. How about we burn it? he asks the others. Paladin sighs, remembering his experience meeting Barnaby.

"That place smells like a garbage pile," Karl whispers.

Hiker looked over at Karl, "Yessum, it sure do smell a might foul , yuck."Iain_IF wrote:Paladin scoots back to the others. Sounds like a chained up wolf on the other side of the curtain he whispers. How about we burn it? he asks the others. Paladin sighs, remembering his experience meeting Barnaby.
Looking down at Paladin, Hiker said "A woof? Really, did ya get it Mr. Halfman? Is Miss Alma there? Now what?"
