Hello,
I want to thank you for working on a german translation.

Thats just a piece of luck for me, because I'm planning to start playing with my son (german like me) in the near future. He is going to 1st grade after the summer and a german version of the rules will make things a lot easier for him, as soon as he learned to read. :-)
Thanks a lot for that.

Although time is one of my least available ressources, I am willing to help. Unfortunately this will not be as much as I wish, with me and my wife both working full time and having two small children to care about.

But for example proofreading the translation should be possible, and maybe (but not very likely) I can find the time for translating some part.

Greetings

PS Sorry for all sorts of mistakes in my english (spelling, grammar, meaning, …)

Welcome!

I would love to see BFRPG propagate into different languages.
Alas, I am one of those fairly dumb Americans (in the language department anyhow) who knows only English. :?
It will take the participation of people like you who understand English plus good fluency in another language to get the game to appear in different forms.

I would say, "Start Small". Do something like translate spells into German. Small distinct entries where one can stop periodically without feeling like one is leaving something unfinished. The larger book sections are harder to get that level of small incremental progress accomplished in the same way.

The way I see it, doing these things is a lot like eating an elephant. One must do it one bite at a time.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Lars is in charge of the German translation, and I see he hasn't been on since the 11th. Perhaps he's busy... let's give him a day or two to get back to us.

Thanks for the nice welcome and also for the advice and the encouragement.

I absolutely agree:
Take a small step, then another small step and soon the long road becomes smaller and smaller. :)
The spells are indeed a good starting point. I understand Lars already began with the first level spells.

I will contact him soon and see how I can support him best.
The following week I am on vacation, so it will be after being back again.
But I guess we are not in a hurry.

Hello and welcome gosimedes,

your offer of help is much appreciated, especially with the proof-reading. Spells, monsters, and magic items can be translated bit by bit.
I suggest that you translate only what you need for your game, at first.
The first bunch of spells will be finished by the end of next week.

Contact me via mail, or personal message, if you want - ne, warte mal. Ich schreibe Dir eine Nachricht auf Deutsch. Das ist leichter. ;)

Take care!

P.S.: And thanks for giving me that extra day ... I've been busy, and then went on a much-needed (and I'd like to think - well-deserved!) vacation. :D

The first-level spells are now finished. I did some proof-reading, as well, and corrected some typos, and streamlined some of the expressions.

First-level spells are still in the English version order. The spells will be listed alphabetically when all of them are translated.

Take care!

Two pages to go before Part 5 is translated. A lot of other work to do.

And: Two new players introduced to Basic Fantasy and the world of roleplaying games. :D Had a nice game session last night.

Take care!
