Re: BFRPG Field Guide (monsters)
I have it in my text file as non-permanent energy drain, which refers specifically to negative levels in my own personal jargon as opposed to energy drain which old-school style energy drain and wanted to pull that out to prevent people from harping on my for something would have been a simple case of jargon flux. And them I derped and missed the whole word.Solomoriah wrote:steveman: "non-energy drain?"

Re: BFRPG Field Guide (monsters)
Seems we all read the same monster manual at some point.Steveman wrote:HAHAHA!
My vamp spawn are almost the same as well, the only appreciable difference is:
Bite: Whenever a vampire spawn hits with a both claw attacks, it may follow up with a bite. If the bite hits the vampire spawn deals 1d4 points of damage and the victim most make a saving throw vs. Death Rays or suffer one level of energy drain, an the vampire spawn regains hit points equal to twice the damage dealt with the bite.
No. Appearing: Wild 1d3, City 1d2, Lair 2d12 + 1d3-1 Vampires

Do it if you can. The Gygaxian prose in the first MM is a delight to read.MedievalMan wrote:Same here, excepting the 1st edition AD&D ones.

Re: BFRPG Field Guide (monsters)
My favorite MM has to be the 2nd edition one. I own the black book version. I just really like the layout and one monster per page format. Also the rules for making your own monsters in the back of the book is a nice little addition.
Re: BFRPG Field Guide (monsters)
I've got one more monster to add in.. this is something I made myself when I was kid and had it laying around. I'll dig it up and add it later today.

I deserve some mad props for finding this.

I do believe that is the description and statistics of every single monster ever produced for 2nd edition.
