Also, what is on the walls? are there sconces or frescoes or anything that might hide a trigger for the secret door?
Shybolt looked around the drab room... the walls were unadorned, plain stone, carved from the living rock; the ceiling was likewise. Only the wall into which the entrance was set was made of stone blocks, fitted and unmortared. The floor was covered with flagstones of various sizes.

Examining the ring and chain more closely, Shybolt found nothing out of the ordinary about them; nor did he find any evidence of a lever or switch.

Shybolt will simply put his shoulder against the wall where the secret door may be and push really hard. If that doesn't work he'll look for something that might resemble a lock to teh secret door, if nothing he will go back into the hall looking for levers, wall sconces, or anything that looks like it can be pushed. Also, can shybolt discern any patterns to the flagstones in the floor that might lead him to believe the opening mechanism may be in the floor?

He tried, but Shybolt just couldn't make the wall give. Frustrated, he gave the wall another close inspection, but could not see any signs of a loose piece or hole that might serve as a means of opening it. Looking down, he noticed for the first time that one of the flagstones near the wall seemed to be broken... thin cracks crossed it, bisecting it twice into four more or less equal pieces.

Shybolt will inspect the cracked flagstones. he'll check for traps first then, he'll remove the tiles one at a time to see if the mechanism is beneath it.

Timorel is watching the hall, making sure Brother Arven doesn't bleed to death, and waiting to see what Shybolt discovers. That's what he'll keep doing until the situation changes.

Brother Arven will quietly slip into a coma, or failing to do that will just lay still and play possum and of course he will worry if he left that candle burning back at the monastery dorm.....

Since Timorel is watching the hall, Grumm will assist Shybolt however he can.

Shybolt's close examination of the flagstone revealed no traps, but prying at the stone did not dislodge any part of it. He became certain that the four seemingly random pieces of the stone were, in fact, push-buttons of some sort. But how to use them? He wasn't sure. It was entirely possible that some undetected trap might go off and kill them all if he pushed them wrongly... Shybolt found it very worrisome.

Grumm suggests we leave before playing with those buttons and give our cleric a chance to recover. Whatever we find behind that door, we'll need a cleric to do anything about it.
