Empire of the Ebon Throne (Dark Basic Fantasy)

Post by soner du »

I'm working on a campaign set in a dark future, when Nyarlathotep, Cthulhu and other dark deities finally have taken control of Earth ... and PC's are their servants !

I talked about it in another thread :

Yeah, Lovecraft is definitely in the international public domain.

I'm working on a BF lovecraftian campaign (just beginning to write stuff).
There will be maybe 10 pages of new rules, mostly a new class : the Cultist, a variant of the Cleric with different spells (depending on the worshipped deity). And new races : Deep One Hybrid, etc.
Some open contents will be adapted from Goblinoid Games' Realms of Crawling Chaos.

Book 1 (basics, island, lvl 1-3) cover : http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/2230 ... ver600.jpg
Book 2 (Earth & Moon, nation, lvl 3-6) cover : http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/2285 ... ver600.jpg
Book 2 (Outer Space, world, lvl 6-9) cover : http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/3615 ... ver600.jpg
This Saturday, I have played my first Ebon Throne game, during a convention...
Here are the PC's : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B8B6JH ... NF9PYzRpZw
(a priest of Shub-Niggurath, a Ghoul Sorcerer-Thief, a Deep Hybrid Warrior and a Yith-possessed Sorcerer)
We've played the first half of the final scenario of the 1st tome, when PC's discover that a human crime lord is smuggling food for Mi-Go... (the Mi-Go are forbidden on Earth).

I've not added a lot of rules :
- % Lore = INT+ WIS + level (just INT + WIS for Warriors)
- Divine Intervention / Retribution = similar to Empire of the Petal Throne
- Cultist : armor & weapons like Thieves ; different selection of spells depending on the deity
- Sorcerer = Magic User
- Warrior = Fighter
- quite a few new races : Ghouls, Deep One Hybrid, Alien Mind (Yith, Mi-Go brainwash...), Leng People, Serpent People...
- Tomes : add %Lore for study, contains spells (require %Lore rolls to learn), may permanently increase %Lore

When are these going to be made available?
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

I don't know, probably in June.
Before I publish something on the BF website, I'll make something available on my Google Doc account, and give the link here.

Kept alive to serve the Gods, but for what purpose? What further sinister machinations must be visited upon the human race once the Elder Gods have triumphed?

Humans are still alive because Nyarlathotep likes them, and because major non-human races need them :
- Ghouls need humans for food, and because they're former humans themselves.
- Almost all Deep Ones are human hybrids, too.

The only major races which do not need humans are the Mi-Go (true aliens) and Men of Leng (who think they're the only real human race). That's why those are allied, together with Moon Things and Cultists of Hastur, to break Nyarlathotep's rule on Earth (that's the background of the campaign), and destroy Humanity.

Cthulhu / Dagon likes the Deep Ones, and also loves the Dreams of Humanity. In fact, he has deliberately chosen to remain asleep...
Yog-Sothoth & Shub Niggurath are neutral.
Azathoth does not care.

I know, I'm late.
I'll be back at this project once I've finished my other current project (French translation of ZeFRS).
Expect something at the end of September (my holidays are in September).
