Grumm quickly tied the end of his rope around Shybolt's waist. The halfling climbed aboard the boat; he was obliged to stand on the seat to see over the side of it. Up close, the boat looked more decrepit than he had previously thought, but it didn't seem to be leaking anywhere.
Grumm and Elwegon then pushed the boat out from the shore. The chain clanked as it played out, and soon the boat was lost from sight.
Shybolt stood up in the darkness, holding his breath. He could see his comrades standing in the torchlight, but the Stygian darkness pressed in all around him. Still, so far as he could hear, feel, or smell, there seemed to be nothing dangerous hiding in it.
