The day was gray and windy; the sky threatened rain yet seemed to be withholding it. The adventurers hoped the rain would hold off until evening, by which time they would be warm and comfortable once again within the inn.

I'll need a marching order before I can continue. Remember, the Reeve and the boy are not returning with you.

Timorel will be in the middle. He has Sleep, Charm Person, & his archery gear prepared for the march.

Newly armored Grumm will take the lead, unless Shybolt wants to scout ahead.

Rykken will follow behind Grumm.

I suppose Elwegon will go in the back

Shybolt will take second from the back.

The adventurers made good progress, though the weather became ever more threatening. The cloud-laden sky was nearly as dark as night by noontime, leading the party to forgo stopping and eat their rations while walking. Shortly thereafter, with a crack of thunder the floodgates of the heavens opened. In little more than an hour, the road became a swamp. The adventurers were drenched, dragged down by the mud, and hardly able to see for the driving rain.

Just then, Timorel managed to spy a cave opening in the hillside near the trail.

Timorel points the cave out to the rest and starts to move toward it. He checks to see if everyone else has seen it before going very far.

"I have a very bad feeling about that cave," says Grumm.

Timorel stops and looks to see what everyone else does.
