Grumm will hide behind the door, so that when it is opened he will be behind the open door. He will hold the glaive ready.

Rykken didn't declare an action other than warning the party, but I'll assume he's clever enough to hide with the others.
The adventurers quickly got out of sight, and waited for the booted feet to get closer.
And waited... it seemed the approaching men (or whatever they might be) were further away than Rykken had thought. Timorel heard them as soon as everyone became quiet, but it was several minutes before Grumm and Shybolt could make out the sound. But it soon became clear that those footsteps were, in fact, coming down the corridor toward the room where the adventurers lay in wait.
Then it occurred to Shybolt that their torch or is it torches would give them away...

well, shybolt isn't going to be fighting in the dark. so he will put his torch on the ground 20' away from the chair and then get back behind the chair.

Did Shybolt have the only torch?

I doubt grumm or timorrel had one. maybe Rykken did.

Rykken does not have a lit torch. Rykken figures 1 torch is enough for the group and if the torch goes out his darkvision will kick in.

Brother Arven carried one, but when he had to leave that left Shybolt carrying the only lit torch, I think.

The adventurers waited for the owners of those booted feet to arrive for what seemed a very long time, but when at last they saw them, they were surprised... it was a party of dwarves.
"Ho, beware, boys," said the leader in Dwarvish, while they were still in the hallway. "There is a fire in yonder room, and so like as not someone nearby. We'd best be canny if we want to get the best advantage of them."
"Hello the room," he called then in Common, "stand forth and be recognized."
