What else can Grumm do but attack and hope for the best.

Shybolt stabbed at his opponent, felling him, but Rykken was not so lucky. As the remaining monsters rushed to attack, Grumm struck with his glaive, but the monster dodged aside. Then the spear-wielding creatures counterattacked. Shybolt was free from attack, of course, and was relieved to see his comrades avoid injury as well.
You all have initiative in the next round.

Seemingly with a mind of its own, Rykken's maul carries him around again with its momentum. Barely keeping it under control, he simply tries to aim it as best he can towards the nearest opponent and hopes for the best.

Grumm attacks his monster.

Shybolt and Rykken swung at the same monster, but neither one hit; Grumm was more skillful, easily dispatching his foe. The remaining monster, badly wounded, began backing away into the corridor.
Rykken and Grumm have the initiative, then the monster, then Shybolt. Yes, the halfling did, in fact, fail an initiative roll.

Grumm pursues and attacks the retreating monster (if possible).

Shybolt doesn't lose his initiative, he chooses to let Grumm and Rykken finish off the creature while he sees if there is any chance to save Timorrel. He will 1st the bind the wound to stop the bleeding and then check for a pulse. If he finds one he will do what he can to make the elf comfortable.
(OOC: I can't remember if in this game dead is dead. I hope I haven't just wasted a round tending to a corpse

)
