Timorel pursues, charging as well if necessary, to attack with his sword.

Grumm and Timorel charged forward, slashing at the huge monster, but neither succeeded in hitting the writhing beast. Shybolt tried to join the fray, but was unable to find space between the feet of his comrades.

Brother Arven brought up the rear, keeping watch behind himself as the others faced off against the snake. As for the great serpent, it fled into the large, dark chamber.

The snake is out of sight at the start of the next round. Since you can't see it, I'm not going to tell you where you fall in initiative order. Please state your intentions.

Grumm isn't going to blunder in after the snake if he can't see it. He's going to stop and suggest we proceed forward slowly, weapons at the ready.

"wait, let me go back and look at the door closer now thats its open to see if I can determine how to open it from the "throne room" in case it gets closed and we ever want to come back here from that direction."

Shybolt will wait to see if the others agree, and if they do then he will go back, peek into the throne room and see if he can figure out the way to open it from the other side. He will also look to see if he can see any trap mechanisms now thart the door is open.

"Shall we all go? It would be best not to be divided."

Grumm has darkvision - he'll stand watch. Don't worry - if the snake comes back, he'll retreat.

Shybolt went back to the door, and tried to figure out its complex clockwork mechanism. As he was looking at it, he noticed it was ticking; a smaller part of the clockwork, enclosed within a brass housing, was still doing something. What, he couldn't tell... the entire thing was far too complex for a simple thief to understand.

Shybolt throws up his hands in defeat, "Arg!!! To Loche with it. I'll just leave it open." He'll dribble some of his oil all over the mechanisms, watch for a second, and if nothing happens, he'll shrug and walk back to the others where he will tell them what he's seen and done.

The oil has no effect at this point.
