I might slay you too...

Timorel backed up the steps, drawing his bow as he pushed past Brother Arven. He fired an arrow at the monster, striking it a glancing blow, even as Grumm successfully held both heads at bay. Brother Arven then stepped forward and swung his mace at the beast, striking it full upon its right-hand snout.

Shybolt cursed the mechanism and struggled with it some more, but was unable to budge it. He stepped back finally, breathing hard, and regarded the recalcitrant clockwork for a moment.

Click... click... click click click CLANK went the mechanism, and the numerous locking bolts all retracted at once.

Shybolt opens the door and checks the other side to see if its safe, if so, he will call out, "Doors open. So now we have an escape option lets kill this thing while we have it at the bottom of the stairs where all 4 of us can attack it at once."

He'll then, move back to the others, take out another wicked oil flask, light it with his torch and throw it over the heads of the others at the snake below. (If the throw ends up in the next round, and if the others just want to do a fighting withdrawal, he'll just hold the door for them as they back out of the room. Then he'll light the flask and toss it behind them before slamming the door. Don't know if it will reopen from this side though).

Timorel will keep using his bow, shooting over the front line.

Grumm will continue to fight defensively, hoping to give the others time to kill the beast at range (exept Arven, of course - no plan is perfect).

Brother Arven swung again, but his swing went wide; Timorel was luckier, scoring another hit on the snake, though this too was a glancing blow. The monster returned the attack, but as Grumm pushed one head aside, Brother Arven ducked away from the other with uncharacteristic grace.

Shybolt took hold of the wheel once more and pushed hard, and the door began to slowly swing open.

You are all ahead of the snake for the next round.

Good grief is this door made for a freaking bank vault? Shybolt will continue until the dang door is open and he can see what room we are opening into and if anything is there to endanger us.

Grumm will fight defensively, and take a step back up the stairs if possible.

Timorel and Brother Arven attacked the snake again. Timorel's arrow went wide, narrowly missing Brother Arven's ear, even as the friar landed a hefty smash at one of the monster's heads. To his surprise and pleasure, Arven noted that the head he had smashed seemed disoriented; it did not strike at him, but the other head attacked Grumm.

Sadly, Grumm's defense did not save him this time, as the monster bit him. It held on, dragging him down the steps, and began to coil around him...

Shybolt noticed that the door was moving more swiftly; surprised, he let go, and the door opened smoothly, revealing the back side of the "throne" from the room where they had faced the lizard-undead.

Grumm took 7 points of damage. Everyone is faster than the snake again.
