"Um, Alrighty then....I would have preferred an undead actually!" Brother Arven steps back, holding his shield and torch in one hand and mace in the other and trying to find a good balance in the water and debris.
As he watches the snake, and prepares to dodge its strike, he has a strange thought, "Hey this room is square, weird."

Shybolt gulps at this danger toward Arven and swings again at the beastie.

Just waiting for the GM to get a free moment...
As the snake turned to face the friar, Shybolt slashed it with his sword, gutting it. As the monster fell into the water, Brother Arven breathed a sigh of relief.

"Master Shybolt, I am very glad to see you unharmed, and on a side note I am happy that the water is deep enough to hide my now wet pants and, pardon my words, but damn that was scary."
Brother Arven holds the torch higher so that they can see around the room, he will walk gingerly over the probably still wriggling dead snake, and looks around the room for any obvious treasure. He will also look upward and see what is taking the others so long.

"Shine the light around the center of the room in the water, see if some fools dumped treasure instead of pottery." Shybolt says, smiling. He will then make sure the beastie is dead, check it over carefully, then if nothing jumps out at him, he'll slit it open to see what it survives on down here.

Brother Arven, pokes at the floating remains of the sandwich, and determines that it is too wet to salvage. He looks around in the water, are there any other entrances, cracks, holes? Is the water clear and just dark or is it too black to see anything on the bottom.
As he looks back as sees Shybolt slicing the snake up, he says, "What a wonderful idea, that thing has gotta weigh in at 200 lbs or so, we could make snake steaks and fry that baby up." he looks up the well and then back at the tunnel , "I guess we had better hope that leads to a way out, cause it is going to be a bear hauling that thing all the way up there even with Grumm's help, speaking of which were are they......" he cups his hands to his mouth, "Hey Grumm....Timorel, you guys sleeping up there?
