Chapter 8: A Puzzle
Re: Chapter 8: A Puzzle
"Yo, Arven, send down some muscle! I need help!"
Re: Chapter 8: A Puzzle
"Coming down" he yells back, And with that Brother Arven, Grabs the rope and swings himself over the side, very awkward to do with a torch in one hand, he yells as he does so, "Let's go he is in trouble!", not realizing that those above can neither see nor hear him. His gauntleted hands absorb the heat as he descends quickly and for a second as he falls in a controlled manner, "Um, perhaps he meant Grumm."

Grumm will wait about a minute and then take a look at what's going on.

Re: Chapter 8: A Puzzle
Seeing that the serpent was about to strike, Shybolt struck first with his sword, but he missed. The serpent struck at his head, but he dodged easily aside. Just then, yelling like a madman, Brother Arven slid down the rope into the room, his torch casting crazy moving shadows on the walls. Landing hard amidst the bones and debris in the water, he almost fell, but by the grace of his god managed to stay upright.
Grumm is waiting a minute, so for the next several rounds it will be the Shybolt and Arven show...

Good luck
Re: Chapter 8: A Puzzle
Brother Arven hits the water with a slight scream "Ahhhhhh-Haaaaaaaaa!"
, legs splayed apart, he feels like he has landed on a watery pile of sticks and boulders, but in the flashing torchlight he does not have time to register that they are bones and skulls he has landed upon.
Immediately seeing the large serpent coiled and striking at Shybolt
, who is backed into the hall and out of the round watery chamber, Arven, smashes downward with his mace upon the back of the serpents head hoping to crush its skull.
Brother Arven, remembering his studies into reptiles and the thesis he was required to write twice (due to being accused of plagiarism, but that wasn't his fault
, he wrote the original, that sneaky little spoiled rich brat Brother Malvas of Hegominy copied his paper from Arven's and turned it in first.) knows that the snakes head is the most vulnerable point, and that staying in close gives the snake little chance to strike....now if it is a constrictor then the game would change real fast but that was for another round.

Amazed at the acrobatic move by the studious cleric, Shybolt attacks the serpent with intent to kill.

Arven: Chamber is square, hole in ceiling is round.
The serpent struck at Shybolt again, but the nimble halfling dodged aside once more, swinging his sword wildly at the monster without success. As the snake drew its head back, Brother Arven landed a mighty blow, just missing its head.
The snake hissed loudly and turned toward Brother Arven...
