Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
If it looks dangerous, Grumm won't attempt it. When the smoke seems to clear a bit, he's all for going back and exploring the room that held the undead thing.
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
I concur. If Timorel and Arven agree, Shybolt will rinse out his wet rag in the rain and retie it to cover his mouth and nose, and then return back down the passage to the dead thing, watching for creatures attracted by the fire. BTW, when we went through room 1 could we see where the smoke was exiting the dungeon? did it go up toward the Tavern, through the north passage from room 1 toward the room with the magic murals, or did it flow into the passage toward the deep pit?
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
Ever the optimist Brother Arven mumbles to himself. "With our luck, it was all sucked into that portal and even as we speak a contingent of otherworldly beings are marching towards this dimension to determine the cause."
Then out loud, "I agree, we need to finish the task we started and see what is in that room that required such a guardian."

"Indeed, it would seem rude not to admire our host's abode. Let's let the smoke clear a bit and head back in."
He will also rinse and retie his kerchief.

Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
The air within the corridor was still quite smoky and foul as the adventurers approached the scene of the battle. Timorel's head began to throb almost as soon as he stepped within, and shortly Brother Arven and Grumm also had headaches.
The monster's remains still smoldered upon the floor of the hallway, but it was obvious to all that it would no longer menace anyone. Beyond, they could just see the doors standing open, beckoning them within...

Shybolt sniffs the air and for once gives thanks that being short enough to smell everyone's butt means his head isn't as high in the smoke as the theirs are. He'll pour a little more water over his breathing rag, test the stone floor where the fire was for excessive heat, look up at the stone ceiling to make sure it looks sturdy, and if it looks safe enough he will move to the end of the hall and step into the room and take a better look around.

Grumm will tear off a bit of his sleeve or some other bit of clothing and wrap it around his face. Stepping carefully, he'll lead the way to the room, glaive at the ready.

Brother Arven pulls that chunk of cheese out of his pocket that he has been saving and begins to nibble on it as they move inward.

Timorel bends down, walking in a crouch, in hopes of improving the quality of air he's breathing.
"This smoke is killing me," he says. "If it's not better quickly, I'll have to go back out for a bit."

The adventurers moved cautiously into the room. The air within was, strangely, less smoky, but still had the foulness of a room closed up for a long time with a dessicated corpse inside it. The walls were dry, and the room was surprisingly warm.
