Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
Actually, I think we should wait to see which way the smoke is escaping the tunnels. Its more likely the smoke will be going toward the cave entrance you mention. But it could be going both ways so fresh air sooner would be best.

Upon retreating from the smoke, the adventurers found the tunnel to the ravine to be free of smoke.

Ok then, thats where we go. I will wait to see if anything has changed below the cave entrance before doing anything else.

Timorel exhales in relief at the monster's collapse and, with the party, begins heading toward the ravine, being careful for traps and ambushes.
(OOC:
Did Shybolt actually say that?)

The smoke is thick and burns Brother Arven's eyes and makes him cough, but he follows along to the fresh air.
OOC: and if he could see well enough he would smack Shybolt upside the head with his Holy symbol for that comment.

Player: I drink the potion!
DM: Are you sure you want to do that?
Player: Um, no. Maybe, Why, do you think it would be stupid?

Yeah, he actually said it.
feeling looping from the fumes.

I think once the smoke clears, and before any other creatures can get to to the creatures body, we need to go back to see if the thing is still on the ground or if it got up and walked away. Then if the passage is passable we should go check out that room.

At the cave entrance, the adventurers discovered that it was raining outside. Though the world beyond the entrance looked miserable and wet, the freshly scrubbed air smelled much better than the smoky tunnels.

is this a torrential downpour or just light rain? Or in other words, are the slopes dangerously slick for climbing? And I forget, how far and how easy would it be to climb up to the bluff or down to the stream? Also, can we tell if the smoke is lessening or would we have to go back to room 1 to tell that?

It's a moderate rain. Shybolt is fairly sure that climbing up is only for thieves and mountain goats, even when it's dry; climbing down is probably doable, but might be dangerous in the rain.
