Timorel looks things over. Does the steeple-nail or hole in the bar look recent? Is there rust or dust or anything that would give us an idea of how long ago they were put there? Also, is there anything that indicates fire was used? Charring on the door, smoke residue, etc.?

Shybolt stiffens his spine and says, "Lets do this. Unless you want to leave?"
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
Brother Arven nervously says "Perhaps we have already done this ourselves? Perhaps we are just ghosts, returning over and over to fail at the same futile task.....we might as well just do it again and end this time around...."
He looks around for the remains of his sandwich, the crumbs of which dust the front of his robes.
"Hmmm, finished it already eh? Well then nothing to do but go on in and see if the thing has anything to eat." he muses to himself from the rear, still holding the loose end of the rope.

Player: I drink the potion!
DM: Are you sure you want to do that?
Player: Um, no. Maybe, Why, do you think it would be stupid?

"Fine," says Grumm, "but if I get killed, I promise to haunt you all. Assuming you aren't killed as well, in which case we'll call it even."

"Its about time you finished that sub. Way to keep the energy up."
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
"It's all about the carbs my friend....I am ready when you are." Brother Arven takes a firm grip on the rope, plants his feet in a convenient crack between the flagstone floor, prepared to pull the door open or lift the bar or whatever pulling the rope is actually going to accomplish.
Technical engineering made for dry reading so he tended to avoid that section of the library.

two ropes. one for the bar and another for the door in case it doesn't open on its own. And I am ready to do this.

No, quite old.Sir Bedivere wrote:Timorel looks things over. Does the steeple-nail or hole in the bar look recent?
No signs of fire being employed at all.Sir Bedivere wrote:Also, is there anything that indicates fire was used? Charring on the door, smoke residue, etc.?
Not much of one. Not enough to see under it, but you might slip the monster a note if you feel like it.jstater wrote:Is there a crack under the door?

I was thinking about pouring the oil under the door and then igniting it.
Re: Chapter 7: Luck, or Hard Work?
"I would suggest wetting down the first few feet of rope with water as well." states Brother Arven.
