"If it is something that requires magic or silver, then I would merely be a light snack for this creature," Timorel says.

"Brother Arven, I appreciate your courage. But with all the great respect elvenkind has for the bards, this isn't some fantasy story dreamed up by some fellows with too much time and ink on their hands. It's quite possible for us to die pointlessly here. Maybe we should push on to other areas and come back for this one when we are better prepared."

Are we still going here, or not? I don't see any actual orders yet.

I think everyone else is waiting for someone to make a definitive statement on this. So lets vote. My vote is to try and do away with this thing before we move on to other parts of the cave. Fire and more fire. several pools of oil ready made and just keep trying to retreat while we throw oil pots.

Looking at the map - I don't know where else to go at this point. I don't think this is going to work especially well, though, but if you all want to try it, Grumm will do his part.

It is just a game, after all and we have left other things untouched already. I just don't think we should avoid it. Some of you may die, but that's a risk I am willing to take.

Um, alrighty then. Well then I vote for conflagration, immolation, and sanguine-nation. Just hopefully not me.

So - just to make sure - the plan is:

1) Rig up a rope to the bar on the door, I guess using a iron spike in the wall to make a crude pulley.

2) The rest are ready with oil to throw at the beast - or maybe flaming arrows.

3) One person opens the door - when the creature shows itself, we start throwing oil at it.

4) When it advances, we retreat and continue to throw oil (here's where I'm afraid things will turn ugly - because by the rules of the game, it may be able to reach and attack one of us before we can technically move out of its range)

Am I clear on the plan?

You forget pools of oil in front of us as we retreat. Toss in a torch or a burning arrow if you want more range.

. Or just leave it locked up and forget about it
"And now you are all for unlocking it. I suppose that, after I tried to persuade Brother Arven of the wisdom of your advice, you changed your mind just to spite me.

"Well, if everyone agrees, then pass the oil. I'll be at the back."

(OOC: our lack of any action thios last week changed my mind. we are too timid. if the game falls apart we should go out in a blaze of glory.)
