Chapter 5: The Rescue
Re: Chapter 5: The Rescue
Brother Arven looks around sheepishly and says, You want to know written history of the Grenburg family and their heraldry markings through the ages, come to me, or the shelf location of a book in the Royal library, I am your man.......you want advice on storming a trog infested stronghold, um...not so much. I will go with the majority on this one. I have one flask of oil and torches if needed.
Player: I drink the potion!
DM: Are you sure you want to do that?
Player: Um, no. Maybe, Why, do you think it would be stupid?

Timorel asks Harald, "How many are there? And how big is that room?"

"They didn't take me in," said Harald, his voice stronger, "but there I did see at least three of them."

"Sleep and oil could do some damage, if that's the way we want to go. Let's be careful not to burn the girl as well, though. Harald, how long ago were you two separated? Any idea? And how much oil do we have?"

"I know we are in a sore state, but I can not in just mind save myself and leave the girl to the trogs. But I am but one, I will abide by the group decision."

"Indeed. A few minutes ago I would have gone back to heal and prepare ourselves better, but now that we know she's close and probably in immediate danger, it's not in my mind to turn around. As Brother Arven says, though, if we proceed, we need to be crafty."
Re: Chapter 5: The Rescue
If we act when unprepared, we will not help the girls. Flaming oil is not exactly a precision weapon. If we're going to do this, sleep is our only real weapon. If it doesn't work, or only disables one of them, the chances of all of us coming out alive are slight. I'm wondering if we could draw them into the hall - away from the women - and then hit them with everything we have.

Re: Chapter 5: The Rescue
"That's a good plan, but it's possible we would only draw out part of them and have little left for whoever remains in the room. I wish we could get a look inside to see how many we're dealing with ...
If we draw them out, we could wait at this end of the hall and use bows and whatnot to shoot them down as they come. Then, oil and sleep once we get them all in the hall.
We might want to spread oil on the floor of that little room in the corner or they might just take cover there. We could light it before we knocked, or we could wait and if they hide there use flaming arrows to set it on fire."

Note:
Carry on.
The troglodytes have only one female captive, Irena.jstater wrote:If we act when unprepared, we will not help the girls. Flaming oil is not exactly a precision weapon.
