Timorel keeps up a quiet, running report as he checks things.

Can't see much through the cracks, just something glistening in there ... floor, walls, ceiling, not wet ... door opens the other direction ... Ah, the door is wet with blood.

Timorel looks back at the party to give them time to say something.

If no one says anything, Timorel will go ahead and push as described above, not moving the door more than a tiny fraction of an inch.

Timorel tried, but was unable to move the door by pushing with the severed finger.

"Be careful that its doesn't become your blood."

Shybolt will continue to cover Timorel with his bow and occassionally check the ceiling, walls and floors for any activity. He'll also keep his ears open for any noise indicating activity anywhere nearby.

One more thing I'd like to check, gentlemen, Timorel says. Then we should either enter or try one of the other halls.

Timorel takes a closer look at the door, taking care not to touch it or let anything of his touch it. Is the blood spread smoothly over the surface? Does it appear to have been painted on with a brush, rag, or some other implement? Does it cover the whole surface? Does the door itself appear to be bleeding from somewhere?

Also, what about the handle and / or lock? What do they look like? Does the door appear to be locked?

Grumm: I suppose if anything's in there, it knows we're out here. I can't imagine how it couldn't hear us. I guess it's decision time - through the door - or back the other way? Personally - I say we go through the door. I'll take the lead if you all like.

Arven says "I agree, through the door, anything that decorates with blood does not deserve to draw breath for long." "Of course it could already be dead I guess, but then we shall just make it deader.

Yes.

No. Timorel has no idea how it was done. It's very smooth.

Not so far as Timorel can see.
Sir Bedivere wrote:Also, what about the handle and / or lock? What do they look like? Does the door appear to be locked?
There is a common enough looking handle, and a keyhole beneath it. The handle does not appear to turn or otherwise move, so Timorel assumes it's locked.

Quite peculiar, Timorel reports, taking several steps back away from the door. There seems to be a very smooth layer of blood covering the entire door. I can't tell anything about how it got there. Also, the handle won't move, so I assume the door is locked. I'll leave the picking or breaking to Shybolt or Grumm, I think.

Timorel continues to back away until he's about 10 feet from the door and step next to the north wall. He'll have his sword in his right hand and set the torch down to leave his left open in case he needs to cast magic.

Arven will move closer to the group near the door so he can provide light from his torch. He will continue to watch the rear passage for any movement, listening for sound as well.
