Chapter 3: Trying Again
Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
Arven says "Impressive throw Master Grumm, but the result was not quite like in the story books is it?" "Now what?" Arven is still watching the rear passageway for any movement.
Player: I drink the potion!
DM: Are you sure you want to do that?
Player: Um, no. Maybe, Why, do you think it would be stupid?

Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
Arven and Timorel have been discussing tossing an elf's tongue at the door. I just assumed we won't be doing that.

Timorel glances at Shybolt. "What a strange halfling," he says. (OOC: All the tongue talk was OOC.)Hywaywolf wrote:"If not a tongue, lets try an arm next."
If nothing has come out of the door, Timorel puts his archery gear away, draws a dagger, takes off a trog finger, and wipes his dagger clean. "Let's take a closer look at that door, shall we?"
If the torch Grumm threw is out or looks like it will go out soon, Timorel will ask, "Brother Arven, may I borrow one of your torches?"
If the torch Grumm threw seems to be burning well, Timorel will draw his sword and walk down the hall to the torch.

Shybolt will stay 20' behind him with his bow ready.

Done, up to the end of Timorel's stated action, assuming you all go along with him. What's next?

Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
Arven remains to the rear of the party watching the passageway, but is interested in finding out what happens when Timorel gives the wet door the finger (so to speak).

Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
I assume Grumm's torch was still burning, then.
Timorel will use the light from the torch to see if he can see anything under the door or through the openings between the door and the wall. While looking, he will move the torch around a bit to see if the shifting light reveals anything. He will also pay attention to hinges and handle. While doing this, he will stay a few feet back from the door itself, though he will get closer if he must.
Edit: He will also check to see if the ceiling, walls, or floor around the door are wet. How high is the ceiling here? Also, do the hinges tell him which way the door opens? If he has to get closer to the door, he will stay alert in case the door opens and he needs to jump back.
If everything seems normal except the fact that the door looks wet w/o any puddling, etc., underneath, with sword ready in his right hand, he will touch the door w/ the trog finger without applying any pressure at all. He just wants to see if there is some chemical reaction.
If nothing happens, he wants to see if there is any pressure on the door from the other side, so he will go from no pressure to a tiny amount of pressure, just enough to move the door a tiny fraction of an inch if there's nothing behind it. (Again, pushing with the trog finger.)
I'll wait to see what Timorel learns before going on.

Yes.Sir Bedivere wrote:I assume Grumm's torch was still burning, then.
These gaps are very small; he can't really see anything through them, save that something behind the door glints in the torchlight.Sir Bedivere wrote:Timorel will use the light from the torch to see if he can see anything under the door or through the openings between the door and the wall.
No, and ten feet.Sir Bedivere wrote:Edit: He will also check to see if the ceiling, walls, or floor around the door are wet. How high is the ceiling here?
Inward, to the left.Sir Bedivere wrote:Also, do the hinges tell him which way the door opens? If he has to get closer to the door, he will stay alert in case the door opens and he needs to jump back.
Timorel, having examined the door, held out the troglodyte's finger and touched it. Nothing seemed to happen. When he drew back the finger and examined it, he realized what the door was wet with.Sir Bedivere wrote:If everything seems normal except the fact that the door looks wet w/o any puddling, etc., underneath, with sword ready in his right hand, he will touch the door w/ the trog finger without applying any pressure at all. Blood.
