"Step inside and enter the deepest hoard," Timorel muses. "Enter, as in become part of, perhaps? Could you exit just as easily? And deepest ... an ocean hoard? The grave? Hmmm ... I wonder who created this here and for what purpose."

Is there any way to tell how recent the writing is? Dust, or scuffing, or some other telltale sign?

If Grumm is OK with watching the hallway, Dorne will enter the room now, following in Shybolts footsteps he will begin checking the walls for secret doors/sliding walls etc. Also he would like to get a look at the stonework to see if he can determine who or what may have worked it and how long ago.

After looking over all the outer walls, Dorne will then move towards the circle, but no closer than Timorel had went. From there he will look at the stonework in the center of the circle to see if may conceal a passage in the floor.

Grumm is okay with watching the hall.

Also - if we don't have a body to throw into the circle, we could always throw in a torch.

Dorne's examination of the stonework revealed only that the room had been built perhaps two hundred years ago, by humans. Timorel found that the painted markings were surely newer than that, perhaps only fifty to a hundred years past. He also noticed the floor seemed cleaner in the center, where the markings were.

Shybolt doesn't like this. He'll make another, slower pass around the room looking for secret doors, traps and/or anything that may operate that thing in the middle.

If Shybolt second search doesn't turn up anything new. Dorne suggests that they move on, plenty of other places to explore, we can always come back and maybe we'll find a clue as to the nature of the runes later on.

(OOC: just to clarify, this isn't a second search for secret doors, the first circuit was just a quick going around the room looking for anything apparent. this second circuit will take much more time. So be on the lookout for surprises rom behind us.)

Does Timorel know if there are anything like Drow elves in this world?

He continues to muse aloud, softly. "Well, theoretically, deepest of course would be the earth ... a mine maybe? And what's an elf magician doing here, creating a trap or gateway or what have you? If it were a trap, it would be guarding something. What is it guarding, I wonder? A doorway out of somewhere, for a quick escape? Why bother to create magical protection but not bar this mundane door here? Hm ... Or maybe deepest is in the personal sense, in the mind, to the soul, or some such thing."

Shybolt continued to search the room for some time, but eventually, frustrated, he decided to give up. The room appeared to have no secrets... other than the strange markings in the center, which all had avoided touching.

"Jester take me, but I can't find anything to help us out here," Shybolt says, coming back to the doorway. "Lets come back with a body later. I for one am not going to touch it first."
Shybolt then looks longingly at the other door.
